Go to your "account details" page (top right of any Steam page in your browser has a drop-down meny next to your name). Under the heading: "store and purchase history" you will have any payment methods you've used and not deleted on the left-hand side of that section of the page. You can delete any of them with a single click after making the payment you wanted to make, and it revokes Valve's access to that payment method until you manually re-authorise it.
I know it's not what you're asking, but it's fairly common practise for a lot of online storefronts to automatically assume you want them to retain access to your payment information.
Click the Settings icon near the top of the page.
Select Preapproved Payments under "Payment settings."
Select the merchant whose agreement you want to cancel, in this case Steam, and click Cancel.
Click Cancel Profile to confirm your request.
I dont think you will get what you ask, a lot of people preffer using wallets prefilled from PayPal, me included. That way I dont have to give Steam my credit card details and I always tend to have at least $50 in my wallet in case I want to go wild, but not too wild :). Since Steam doesn't auto-fill my wallet and I still have to authorize it despite them having a subscription, I don't particularly mind it. In order to get what you want you would have to do a full enabel-fill-disable cycle on every load.
There is a way to do this now to. But it's very unwieldy.
First order, confirm to go the the payment section, then you get the order stating the Wallet and Paypal.
Click "change" on the Wallet part, then you will be put back to the previous payment screen with the full payment amount for Paypal.
However in that case, you have to deselect the "remember this" option to prevent the Paypal authorization for steam coming up.
It could be way easier to just make a selection before going to the payment screen.
@Mitropower: It wouldn't matter for those who prefer using wallets.
If they use an opt-out option, but display both wallet and paypal, the only thing people like you have to do is just to click the confirm or next button, as you do now.
Nothing changes for you.
In my case (and a lot of people with me), we have the option to just deselect the wallet payment option.
So for people preferring wallet, nothing would change.
For people preferring other payment, they at least have the option to opt-out for wallet a lot easier.
So it's not that difficult as you're stating. It's just 1 load extra.
Or just add a selection option in the pulldown. It's really not that difficult to implement.
But even with this trick, it would be more service to customers and nicer if they just made a simple opt-out selection option or something like that.
Hence my suggestion.
A change would be to have an option to deselect wallet payment.
I... never had that option when I attached my paypal account to my Steam account. I guess they changed that since I did it. Cool!
The other issue wasn't the problem I was addressing, which, to be honest, I wasn't really commenting on because the only comment I'd have was "+1" anyway.
Thanks for the +1.
