Privacy: Stop Alerting Friends What I'm Playing.
I don't want to be spammed with "wtf come play csgo" every time I feel like chilling and playing a single player game. I have over 400 games and I can't play anything other than csgo/dota without explaining myself. This has been a problem since the inception of steam and enough is enough. Let's implement better privacy options such as a static appear online. Appear offline is not a solution.

get better friends?

It should not be the business of anyone on my friend list how I spend my gaming time but I do still have social commitments to those people and would prefer to not hide on alt accounts or appear offline.

you have 2 options:
1. say "no maybe later" to your friends
2. set steam to offline mode

delete spammers, or you can just disable everything when you receive a message, like the sound, a flash window ect..
Change your status to offline, problem solved.

I see three options:
1. Remove the friend
2. Learn to deal with it
3. Go offline
Instead of being pissed off about it ... maybe block them? delete them?

go offline maybe?

lol you can't complain to steam what people choose to do to you. if you don't like simply remove them or go offline. i removed a person who kept inviting me to csgo because i don't own it and i simply don't want to play it. pick your friends instead of randomly accepting every single person.

"No" Learn it. Use it. If they ask why, just point to your status. You're only being buggered because you always say yes, especially when pressed. Break the cycle and the requests to play will die down soon enough.

Social "commitments" don't exist on Steam. Period. If my own sister or mother behaved that way I would unfriend them...instantly.

People obviosuly don't see the real problem here, or they wouldn't have responded with the ignorant comments they have left. Personally, I would like to be able to play online and benefit from that option, rather than "go offline" and be restricted to single player only. Sometimes, I simply don't want some of my friends to know that I am playing. GTA V for instance. I have a friend that loves the game and joins my session every time they see I am online. Sometimes I just want to play the online by myself, and they don't get the message. Steam needs to make this an option.

you are confusing "offline mode" with "appear offline", they are two entirely seperate things..

setting yourself to appear offline, Steam still retains full online functionality, you can still play online games, post on the community, purchase things on the store, heck even talk to your friends in a chat session.. heck, Steam will still keep track of your playime, you will get card drops, etc.. the only difference is, you will show up as "offline" when someone looks at their friendlist

then there is offline mode, which disables online functionality..

they are two entirely seperate things..

and was a necro really needed?
