Manually sort games on a shelf
TL;DR the automatic sorting options often do not sort your games properly and I want to be able to do it manually by dragging games, just like the wishlist or shelves themselves, so that the order is actually correct for my own purposes.

I dropped this before in a megathread but let me try again and elaborate a bit... you currently cannot reorder games on a shelf manually and the automatic options often just throw your games off of the order you want. I want the option to manually sort them. And as for automatic, release date always starts with newest game. At the very least give us oldest first, too, so that my series are not ordered game 3, 2, 1....

Let's say I make a shelf of only 1 game series, with its spinoffs. Currently these are the issues (note I use the Dutch UI so maybe the terms used in the English UI are a bit different from my translations):

Alphabetical - game series where naming isn't 'simple' (like Vol 1, Vol 2 and so on) get out of proper order and spin-offs get mixed in between
Friends Play - this is obviously not going to follow a specific order you have in mind at all
% of acheivements completed - Same as above
Hours played - Same as above
Last played - Same as above
Release Date - It shows newest first and you cannot make it oldest first. So now my games are ranked 3, 2, 1, instead of 1, 2, 3. Not to mention some games in series come out at the same time on steam, or vastly varying times from original release on other platforms, in case of ports. This can cause the release date ranking to do something like 2, 1, 3.
Size on disk - Same issue as Last played, etc
Metacritic score - Same as above
Reviews - Same as above

I would very much like the ability to move games around on a shelf myself. Sort them MY way. In most cases, that would be main games first, in order of release (first the FIRST game FIRST instead of last) and with the spin-offs after that, in order of release.

Pretty much every shelf I have is out of wack because the sorting options just don't give me what I want. There can be a million options to auto sort, but if they don't do what I need them to do they're useless. At the very least add ascending and descending options for release date, so people can choose. The current default makes absolutely no sense to me, but I guess everyone sorts their library differently. I have many shelves where I pick 6, 12, or 18 games from a series, as 6 can be displayed in a row for me. That looks nice, but its out of order and that annoys the living heck out of me.

So.... manual sorting would fix that. I'm happy I can drag shelves around, but I just need to be able to organize the shelves themselves, too, by dragging around the games that are on them.

And now I'm just repeating myself in different words. Sorry. ^^

A search would have shown you that this has been requested before, in various ways. Personally I always add this screenie to a thread to show that I too would want to be able to change sorting/names.

Perhaps in Valve time.

Actually I searched "manually reorder games on shelf" and that did not return results that had to do with this issue. Unless I didnt look hard enough. It mostly returns threads about removing 'what's new' or with random mention of the words used.
I did search. Sorry if I used incorrect terms :/

And yeah your image is basically what the problem is. For neptunia series I get "last spin-off", "early spin-off", game 1, game 2, game 3, spin-off, game 4, more spinoffs.

It's been a request for a while now, I think generally the term library or games or such gets used. No worries!!

I've got a few series that suffer from it, but this one highlights it nice because game 1 comes after 6 in the library, which is BS.

Yeah, it does indeed. I have that for some series as well. An even better example than the Neptunia one is Atelier.

The shelf is like this:
Lulia, Lydie&Suelle, Meruru, Rorona, Sophie, Totori...

That should be
Rorona, Totori, Meruru, Lulua, Sophie, Lydie&Suelle... Lulua could be at the end cause it released later but it actually comes after Meruru.
Not that it matters, you can clearly see how messed up the default order is...
