What does "Coming soon" really mean?

I am getting very frustrated in checking the games on my wishlist! I have some that have been listed as coming soon that are now 4 months old! Come on people...this is crazy.There should be a better way to announce new games coming out so that they are released in a way that "coming soon" makes sense.

Soon is somewhere between now and before later.

This is almost the only time where having a large publisher is actually helpful. You are tied to a specific release date. Well, except this year.

Coming soon basically means the release is planned but not scheduled; period.
Nothing special about it. Big publishers normally do this for a month to half a year before they actually schedule the release. I've seen an indie game that was almost a year on that "Soon" statement.

It can mean anything the speaker wants it to be

Ask the game devs when they think the release will likely happen. That'll put your mind to ease.
