Requesting a political discussion area
Steam discussions behavior guildelines currently bans 'Religious, political, and other “prone to huge arguments” threads' even in the off topic section apparently.

Although I will comply now that I know this, I would like to request a lifting of the ban on political discussion there, or maybe recommend that it be allowed at least in its own ghetto. Of course we don't want politics in the dicussion groups for games but why not give it its own rubber room? People like to talk about it.

I prefer to keep politics and religion out of Steam and just keep them at their respective online forum websites.

Political discussions hurt internet feelings. People are too thin skinned. Yet they go online.

This is why we can't have nice things.

i mean if it's outside off topic it doesn't hurt the people here right...

Indeed for both points, but from what I've observed in both real life and online debates, it tends to create division within a society and even cause wars, be it flame wars or actual organized violence. Better keep the flames to a minimum here, I guess.

I didn’t know Gabe’s neighbour had that much power. Let me guess, is it Totoro? It’s Totoro, isn’t it.

They should make a subfourm in off topic probably

It wouldn't be a main forum since this is a gaming site

Another forum I'm a member of has a dedicated political thread. Mods constantly moderate it, not for opinions or even anger, but for general forum respect or abuse. It's a much smaller forum than Steam. There's no way Steam adds a political discussion area without it becoming inundated with tons of random, aggressive, abusive posts. Mods simply wouldn't be able to keep up, and it wouldn't be a good use of their time anyway.

Do you really want to discuss politics with the teenage mouth breathers of OT?

It's even worse in the other online forum; you know what forum that I'm talking about.
