Error in french translate

Hi, I've seen some points have been added to some french words by your translate service. I'm here to inform you that this is not correct in french to do that. That kind of writing is used by political activists, who try to change the way we write. I feel offended that Steam allow that kind of activism in it's platform and I want it to be removed.

More precisely, I speak about some words in the friend's menu, where you can read, for exemple : "Gérer la liste d'ami.e.s". In correct french it's "Gérer la liste d'amis", without points. Another example : "Ajouter un.e ami.e.s", in correct french it's "Ajouter un ami". In french, the masculine form is also a sort of general form, it include female by default. So any addition is unecessary.

As it was exposed here by several people, the French don't use this "dot-language", only political activists try to impose it.
Please Steam, contact the French STS and make them remove this abomination. Beside the fact that politic have nothing to do here, it makes it difficult for several people (dyslexics, foreigners learning french, people with difficulties with their native langage...).
Plus, in french, plurial is the neutral form, so it is already inclusive, saying it is only masculin because it takes the masculin form is a lie. The French academy (which is the reference in term of language) already proved that.

I come here because it seems we are not listen at all in our french forum, despite the number and the help of some brave moderators. We just try to do what is good for our language and against ideological totalitarism.

It's not over, they remove the dot but keep the sex distinction and duplication : "amis et amies" instead of "amis", "ami ou amie" instead of "ami(e)". They want that in our mind, we never group male and female people, except with an epicene word like "personnes", "contacts"... And in the long term it's bad, like a foot in the door, to get a political success.

In French language, the male gender is about everybody, not only the male people. That's it. Male gender of french is for all your tens of genders from the gender theories, and for the two sex for common people. Don't begin to cut or change anything in our mind, all the more to do the contrary you want to do (if you are a good person).

Bad English because it's not native.

Edit : I agree with SimonaK, amis => contacts can be a good evolution. Even for a bad reason. But in english, what is the word? Did Steam agree to change this notion? We can recreate a "friends" category, so I think so.

the word « Contact » is better, more representative, authentic, least hypocrite.

Now, you can decide to see your contact as a friend...or not.

The word "contact" is a way to avoid the problem by keeping their ideology.

The question is not "does it represent my friend list better ?" but "are we going to remove every gendered-word to avoid confrontation ?"

I has also think that "contact" can be a good solution, but it's not. The old french version should be restored. Because not everybody are happy about this change, especially after all this story. The best way to desescalate things is just to restore the old version of the translate.

About you, Will Steam use the word « contact » in its English version or will it continue to use the word « friend » ?

Let's suppose He will use now the word « contact » anywhere, any language.

I dont know and I dont care. For now, it's "friends" and we gonna be the only ones to not translate it correctly. It seem weird to me. All I see is people offended because of the decisions of the STS, a lose of trust for this team of translators and a wish to return to the old version of the translation.

My Steam client is French and it updated earlier today and it displays « Contact » now.

It's not the subject. The changes are highly criticized, I think the only thing that gonna be accepted by the majority of the users is a return to the old version of the french translation.

If I well understood NorX Aengell's post, English Version of Steam is now with word « contact » instead of « friend »

It's not, I've switch to english to verify myself, I read "Friends".
