No but it’s delirium there, I can’t even have a platform in French anymore and I’m forced to deal with illegible writing at the same time as propaganda on a merchant site. If they want an option "fundamentalist writing" that they put it as an option but that they don’t take away a menu in French. As long as there’s nothing, no steam buy for me.
It's not about feminism, some feminists are against that too. It's about a minority of activists who think they can insult an entire community by forcing their mark on this french community.
If you didn’t notice yet, the French translation team on the STS decided to overstep the official French language in order to impose “inclusive writing”, which consist on showing both gender of a word but separated by a median point “ • ” . For example: friends = ami•e•s instead of : amis (the masculine form is also the neutral in correct French). This is in fact a political activist way to write French, but still isn’t proper French.
I thought steam was a politically neutral platform? Isn’t the French translation team overstepping your general Terms of use too by embracing this kind of activism? And this isn’t only wrong French writing, but it’s also really hard to read for dyslexic people (which i was, thats why i react on this) and incompatible with most devices which read texts for visually impaired people.
Hope you will fix this situation quickly, have a nice day.
As said into the famous newspaper "Le monde", the official group "Académie française" who normalize the french language said that this kind of writing "results in a disunited language, disparate in its expression, creating a confusion which borders on illegibility".

So the French translation team on the STS use a mistaken writing which is hard to read, only for claimed their own political opinion.

Personally, it isn't a problem for me since I have Steam set to English, but I can see it being a huge problem when used as it slows down reading more than anything.
And another former prime minister had said that inclusive writting should not be used too. I'm not in favor of the parenthesis that much, it make reading the text more difficult. But if you want to use them at introduction, for example : "Cher(e)s client(e)s" / "Dear customer", I think it's gonna be fine for the most part of the french community. As long as you dont put it everywhere. But the problem with inclusive writting is the political meaning of it and the fact it's not a part of french language at all, contrary to the parenthesis.
How does Valve allow the french STS to destroy a language and to despise everyone that suffer dyslexia or anyone with spelling disorders.
Please, let Steam be neutral and apolitical.
