Just don't buy games that you are too embarrassed to have in you library or get a second account for such games.
Is Hentai Girl Division any good? Asking for a friend.
AMAZING... it's literally not what OP request here. The only thing this puppy does his hiding them in your library for YOUR eye. What OP wants is the game not being show as "owned" for him for example when going on the storepage as his friend or when visiting his games list.
@OP
You have two options:
- Hide your gameslist entirely with the privacy options
- "Remove" said game "permanently" from your account via the Support Page
The second option does not actually remove your game. It just makes it entirely invisible until you restore it with the very same method - or of course rebuy it but that would be rather stupidhttps://prnt.sc/tayhoc
Still not what OP requests
Friends Only- only people on your friends list will be able to see the game in your library. Private, no one will be able to see it.
Your second option is just a PITA, though. If you remove a large number of games from your account, you better keep a written or printed list, so you know what Store page you need to go to to reinstall it again.
Personally, I think Friends Only is a better option. If you have so-called "friends" who give you a hard time about what games you own, are they really friends?
The Hidden Games are meant to be a form of Parental Control, so you can hide games that may not be appropriate for underage children in your household who you may let play some games on your account. It does not hide them from your eyes, when you are signed into your account. They are perfectly visible, and easily accessed from the top left "View" link, clicking on the "Hidden Games" option. So, if you have smart kids, lol... they aren't really hidden if you let them use your account.
I do agree, it would make more sense if they were actually hidden from all, and required a password to access, though that would get just as many complaints as anything else Valve does.
One example if for streamers. Many streams build a reputation for playing certain types of games. Like everyone else, streamers have down-time and very well might enjoy playing other types of games during that time. There have been cases where viewers will harras streamers after seeing that the streamer has played a game in their off time that differs from the games they stream.
A lot of people like certain games that friends/fans might think are childish, too, feminine, etc. In today's online society, people don't have filters. Meaning they'll say anything that comes to mind without thinking. After all, in most cases, they are anonymous with little or no real-world repercussions for what they do online.
Giving users the ability to better control what others see is the responsible thing for Steam to do. The lack of understanding by Steam is in part why there are more and more people that dislike Steam. This is an option that has been requested for a long time now. Steam continues to ignore this issue like with other issues. At the VERY LEAST Steam could come out and explain why certain features can't/won't be added.
