Option to keep my Credit Card ONLY as the Default Payment Option
Every time I purchase a game, I need to click on the Steam Wallet option and change it to my credit card. It’s annoying to have to constantly do this. I don’t want to use my steam wallet used to buy games. I want to keep money in it specifically for buying things in the Marketplace only, and to use my Credit Card only for games.

It exists that way as it is presumed most people would like to use the "free" money they have sitting on steam first.

When they changed it years ago, we all were confused and a bit annoyed.

Except that it’s not all “free” money. You can load your wallet with actual money to buy things in the marketplace.

Free money is the wrong term. Credit is a better one and froma business perspective and a COnsuumer Affairs perspective its better to get the credit used uop as quickly as possible.

Totally agree, it's a bit annoying. The free credits I have in the Steam wallet, I use mostly to level up my profile, this opt-in option would be good to have, for sure

Why is that? It's an ongoing thing to get free Steam wallet credits, I don't see it ending any time soon either.

Because credit is static, and does not become adjusted for inflation. In short. You can but one game with the credit you have today. COme next week the prices may shift and your credit will now no longer purchase as much as it did before. Credit becomes less valuable the longer you have it.

Many people mlike myself use the wallet as sort of a control valve to keep ourselves on budget.

From the store perspective. Valve doesn't have to pay a transaction fee on credit used in purchases.

I agree 100%, I load my account from time to time for marketplace. And it directly affects my desire to pull the trigger.

How hard would it be to have a checkmark 'Use Wallet?' as you proceed to checkout, then it will only go with the card.

Or perhaps to have a separate holding where you can move funds from the wallet to a marketplace wallet.

I hear you though I just realized abnother reason why especially for marketplace they push you towards using the wallet balance first. It's rather simple really. CHargebacks...

I get that it's better for Valve that their customers use the "Store Credit", so to speak, first. But you don't treat your customers like this. It's ridiculous that Valve try to make things as inconvenient as they can get away with, just for their own selfish needs. What happen to businesses looking after their customers? Is that such a redundant idea now?

Agree, and agree, and agree. It should be up to us, the purchasers, what our preferred payment method is. Certainly Steam decides which payment methods they choose to accept, but they should not be deciding our individual payment preferences for us.

I'm going to go on the marketplace and empty my wallet entirely on a few fiddly little things in hopes that once there's nothing in there, Valve will default to the payment option I want. Probably not, but it can't hurt to try.

Unacceptable that this still hasnt been solved. Valve went ahead and closed the main thread. Just fix your store, it shouldnt be that hard really.
