Just because you consider it trash does not mean it's trash, the market decides if a game is trash or not with their money. You do not, so take your "censor games I don't' agree with" argument somewhere else please. Also kickstarter and patreon make huge amounts of money and if Steam embraces the idea so would developers who wanted to work with Steam and so would steam. It's not hard to grasp for most. There are games on Patreon right now that would be called trash by many making 40-50k a month.
Again...it's not that kickstarter exists it's that STEAM CAN MAKE MONEY from this too and many developers and customers would support it.
This is a board for users to suggest ideas to valve and not suggest ideas to M, as proven by the name of the forum.
And now you know what it sounds like when other people hear when you say it.
Now I'd suggest less snark and more coming up with an actual advantage your suggestion has over the systems valve already makes available to devs/pubs for their use.
Your statement rings a little hollow. As said, develoipers have had the ability to creat supporter dlc, and subscriptions for content since forever but most choose not to. Because it can make the bookkeeping a little messy and not every country is as lax in their accounting regulations and tax laws as the US.
And its also for the discuyssion of the merits, benefits, flaws, and downsides of that idea.
So again if you want anyone to take this idea seriously you'll hgave to as i said, provide one benefit it has over the features valve already allows. WHat would it do that devs can't already do directly through steam.
It is already a thing...

Valve has already allowed it on Steam.
You forgot the strongest one.
Feature already exists.
Honestly it's like you're suggestion the revoilutionary iidea of putting airconditioning in a car, in 2019. Maybe if you grab yourself a time machine you can jump back 12 years to when this would actually be a new idea.
Yeah I saw it, but this is more indirect and not that great. Which is why that's probably the only one you can link to? They could do this in a more direct fashion and take business away from Kickstarter and Patreon. It's all about visibility and having a stronger infrastructure in place to take monthly payments to allow the creation of games in a kickstarter fashion.
I rarely support games on Patreon and never on Kickstarter, I would do so on Steam if it was available because it's a lot easier and I trust valve more than those companies. Also game developers would probably be more willing to go with steam because they could offer other things like advertising and a much larger audience that are interested in just games as opposed to the other things patreon/kickstarter support.
They could add a tab on the main page for fan funded projects and get mass attention.
Keep in mind many of these companies take about 10-20% of all transactions (steam could have some of this).
There are hundreds of titles on the store that do this. I only posted the 1 to show you it is already an option for devs/pubs to use.
If you don't understand it is already a feature they can use, that's on you.
Adding a tab will do nothing as most titles that do this are junk games that no one cares about. Big devs/pubs don't need something like this as sales are already enough for them. If it wasn't, more of them would use the feature.
If you don't understand what I'm saying above and beyond what you posted that's on you.

Linking to actual Patreon and Kickstarter like pages will not be something Valve will do.
Dev/pubs can link that info on their store page or game hub already, if they wish to.
I'm pointing out how much money these "trash" games make and that Valve could be doing it and making 10%-20%.
Valve already is with some devs/pubs using the DLC as a way of supporting them as I linked above.
Yeah I noticed, they could do it far better and get mass attention if they did it in a similar fashion to kickstarter and patreon.
Not to mention games can actually do subscriptions... There is also in-app purchases ... there are literally half-a-dozen ways valve empowers dev/pubs to do this. And saying STeam would make money kinbda isn't a point. They already make money off of the devs that actually wantto implement and use such things.
