The ability to display lower level badges

When you complete a badge, I feel like you should be able to display whatever badge icon you prefer. Instead of being stuck with that one you currently have.

Many people have been asking this for years, so please take this into account.

im all for it as well for almost 3 years i didnt check the foil badge in final fantasy 10 and back when i crafted the normal badge i crafted badge level 4 thinking the 5th would be the one that is the foil badge , and then i thought its pointless anyway if i have the 4th or 5th , i dont really want to show that badge on my profile , the 5th level team is the worst in the game

and simply having an option to chose what level of a badge you want to show on your profile really wouldnt hurt , another example is final fantasy 13 , the 5th badge level is a character i dont really like i would rather have the 1st , 3rd or 4th shown on my profile

and the only option for having the badge level you want being to leave a badge at a level below the highest (5) is also no good idea

I just came here after sending feedback through the support, where I was told this:

"Unfortunately, at this moment in time, there is currently no way to modify/choose which badge level to showcase. Although, I do think this would be a great idea and I will be passing this along to the developers of Steam."

They forwarded me here, since I didn't know about this forum, and first thing I see is this thread haha.

Hopefully they'll work on it!

Been suggested many timnes and as always I am for this this. Its hard to know what the next level of a badge might look like and for some people the aesthetics are more important than the label.

They should at least show all the badge levels. And some of the 5th level badges really lack to refinement of some of the first level ones.

because badges change with every level and sometimes , you might like the 2nd level more than the 5th , so , should you now have to leave a badge at a lower level to keep it, perhaps you just wanted to lel your account with some badges of games you play but then the 5th badge just looks awful , why shouldnt you be able to dispaly the 2nd level ?

this is probably more related to developers and how they choose to name their badges. for example, in some games badge name remains the same, only number next to it changes.
