Regional pricing for African countries
It seems so far Steam regional pricing is based on implementing local currencies.

Sadly this system won't work for all regions especially the African region, most local currencies here are weak and not used to buy stuff online, people use $ or Euro's for most online purchases (we basically buy Steam cards since credit cards are not common here)

I wish Steam would implement the reduced prices while keeping the currency the same (for me currency in Algeria prices are in US Dollar and same as what the US gets),

Epic store implemented this just 2 days ago and i see Metro exodus for $20 instead of $50. This really helps get things going here and give people more reason to buy their games instead of pirating them.

I hope this reach people at Valve.
Thanks.

I believe they did that due to the growing demand, by the game devs, and people asking them to fix their pricing.

Was there any other games affected, or just Metro?

Do note, when I look up previous prices for it, it seem it would have been same price you would have been paid on Steam from the start before it got removed, around $20 USD. But we have to wait, and see when they relist the game in Feb 2020 back onto Steam.

Yeah, yeah other games are also affected. Subnautica below zero, The walking dead final season, Hades but this seem like opt-in thing and not forced by Epic since The division still sells for the same price as before $60

By the way and on your second note, Steam "Do not" offer regional prices for me. and that's why i'm writing this.
so yeah it wouldn't have been the same price i would payed on Steam because Steam shows me US prices and pretty much think of me as living in the US (i guess that's the default when they don't offer regional prices to you).

Steam only offer regional prices when they start using your country's currency. but that won't work well in most African countries for many reasons.

That might be the case, as i'm not sure what kind of things going on over there. But does sometimes seem to work out for those in other countries as they have prices adjusted to their currency.

So Steam adjusted prices (lower or higher) while keeping US$ for some countries? Nice! :ooh: I've never heard of that. I've asked many friends on Steam (from Russia, Pakistan, Turkey .. ) they all received the regional pricing when Steam changed the currency from US$ to their local currency. that would be great if this is already implemented. it means there's hope ... one day things might change.

All I can say at best is hope you're next on the list when your currency is added, as Steam does recommend those to adjust their prices, to an added currency. Example for Metro as in RU, they adjusted the price to low as 1049 ₽, which was = to $16 USD on Steam, compare to paying higher price tag in other countries. ATM It is selling for 1999 ₽ on Epic, which is about $30 USD, which is almost double, compare to Steam. Maybe they fix that on Epic, who knows. Steam believe it's best to pay in your currency so you wouldn't have to do a exchange rate to pay in another currency, they are slow getting around to add other currencies, either having to deal with those banks, or credit card companies.
