New Friends List UI suggestions

A lot of people seem to be talking about the Chat UI, but I'd like to suggest some options for the Friends List.

I can use the -nofriendsui switch in my launch shortcut, but I am concerned that this may not be an option forever. I would just like to be able to preserve the same level of usefulness in the New Friends List UI.

A side by side comparison, Old vs New, for me:

The profile icons take up extra space, allowing me to see fewer people.
Please add an option to turn these off.

The game groupings take up extra space, and unnecessarily move friends out of their existing category.
Please add an option to turn this off.

The font smoothing and kerning is bad, and thus is harder to read.
Please use a font that displays properly, for example the old font.

The extra game info (DOTA rank for example) adds clutter and makes it harder to see what people are playing.
Please add an option to turn this off.

The GROUP CHATS bar on the bottom is not something I use.
Please add an option to turn this off. (Admittedly this is more of a "would be nice" option rather than one that affects use)

There are reports of blocked users showing up in the friends list.
Please review this, as they should not show up.

The New UI does not allow us to sort categories and friends, the Old UI gave us better control over which friends are easiest to see.
Please add sorting options for categories and friends.

For the profile icons, you can go into settings and turn on compact friends list

Brainlet - my screenshot actually has the compact friends list turned on. The UI with the compact option turned off was, well, less compact. Here is a new screenshot with all 3:

Does compact turn off the icons for you?

More so, i don't understand why do i keep seeing ppl that i blocked. In old version they were just pushed to the bottom of my friend list, now i can see what are they playing and if they are online anyway.

My custom category of regular/ top friends i play with has been moved to the bottom and the friends in the list are no longer organised by who is online, it is a mess. Also you cannot move the custom groups positions in the friends list. All our customisation option s have been removed, why would you do this. Utter trash UI, waste of staff wages and time. P.S. New UI browsers take twice as long to load now.

I agree with the OP!

I just want the "old school" friend list back, it should be an option to keep "classic style" or "modern style". The chat windows are humongus, and other things details i simply don't need/find them useless. So please release an option to keep old steam friend list & chat active!
