Why does Steam not count offline play time?
I used to play a lot of steam games online connected to servers and those hours of game play add up and are counted even in single player mode but now I mainly play offline single player games to save download data and the game time is not counted.

Seems single player games played offline are missing out on 'game played time stats' This clearly gives a false indication on how popular games are!

I MEAN I STILL HAVE TO START STEAM SO WHY IS TIME PLAYED NOT COUNTED?

It's counted internally for purposes of refund time.

"Offline" means Steam can't tell what you're doing overtly.

Playtime is not an indication of popularity. Many people idle games for cards or because they simply can. It's a useless metric in that regard.

If the time is counted internally can't it be added the next time you go online?
