You have the Artwork and Screenshot showcases if you really want to show off your avatar/OC/persona/whatever you may want to call it depending on whether you do that from a game's character creator or just commission or draw your own artwork.
Seriously if Valve decides to do a proper avatar system that isn't the whatever saliens you can bet your life that it will be monetized to hell and back where most of the stuff will have to be bought off the market, just like the emotes and profile backgrounds now.
Can I suggest to have an in steam avatar creation option. And have this avatar be used in-game as well.
Yeah, hopefully not. What a waste of time and energy.
That would bloat it to hell and beyond.
