I've had to log into Steam well more than that number of times in a year. I take a trip somewhere and I need to login again. And sometimes the login just expires for no apparent reason.
Note that every login is basically two logins because the community and store pages have two separate logins.
The technical answer is your login is the primary key. Changing that requires tables to be dropped and re-created, and with the size of steam's database at present that is a VERY dangerous proposition and runs the risk to basically completely wipe out people's accounts.
Steam knows its not ideal, and moderators/developers have said repeatedly it was a lack of foresight when steam was first created and they are well past the point when it could be changed safely.
This is especially true when its literally a cosmetic thing that only the user sees, and is not used very often as you can save your login on your PC.
So just login when you have to, and you can ignore it for the rest of the time.
As always, your needs and other's needs will not always match.
This comment is ONLY focused into tell me that i can't change my login name. I am aware of that.
Yes i know. And there's also an ID. As I pointed that is a design lack. If you refer to docs, you can see that:
So, we have 2 primary keys, and it's totally absurd.
I am aware, and I do understand that make changes on a big system can be caotic and tend to disasters.
You think that is only cosmetic. But I have to write something that is not regular to me, something that makes me remember things I dont want. It's a freedom question more than a cosmetic problem.
Again, you have your only and solely point of view.
I did login 10 times this month, for whatever reason that you may know or not. I do understand that you are referring only to the Steam client on which you enable remember-me and that's all and maybe a browser with remember-me feature.
Not my case, but thank you for expose your opinion.

I am not asking to make such big changes or even to modify user_account.
I am asking to be able to login with other than my account_name and to show "nickname" instead of account_name everywhere. This has been done partially.
