Unleveling badges/Lowering account level
A while ago i made some sale badges to level 7 and 6 and i regret this decision, should steam be given an option to where you can uncraft badges that you crafted and lose to 100 xp you got for each level {With restrictions such as you cant uncraft level 1 badges,cant do it to free badges such as the nik nak collector or steam voting commitee reward, and you cant get the cards back that you already used}

... Why in all that is living would you want to do that? What's wrong with leveling? What sort of disadvantage do you get, at all, with earning XP and getting badges?

You get this from those people who are OCD about what their profile page looks like and want to remove/rollback some badge that they believe ruins what it looks like.

It will never happen because Steam Support doesn't want to have to deal with either users 'accidentally' using the feature or hackers who wipe out someones badge collection.

Some people have a preference for the look of a badge at a lower level than a higher level. That simple.

This is something i've been wanting for years. Not really from personal need but that I can totally understand why others would want it

There is nothing wrong with acquiring something and wanting to discard it afterwards, because it is not to your liking. That is not having OCD. You commenting in pretty much every topic that is related to this issue says something more about you than about the people asking for this feature. You're clearly not interested in having this feature, yet you join the topic to say that anyone who does want it suffers from a disorder. It makes just as much sense as saying you have a hoarding disorder, because you feel there is no need for removing badges.

Steam can implement a hiding feature to prevent support having to deal with help requests about wrong badge removals.

I agree with Kitten on this one, a lot of work, potential for massive abuse and damage, all sorts of issues with functionality etc for something that would not be used by most people and is 100% cosmetic.

Then you haven't read some of the thread that I have where people get completely bent out of shape because some badge appears in the recent badge section and how their profile is completely ruined because the new badge somehow doesn't fit with the rest of their profile.

But if the OP had actually bothered to do a search, they would have found countless threads on this exact same topic, and full discussions on why it won't happen. But even with all those people in favor of it, they are not even a fraction of a percent of the active Steam user base. In fact, the most likely people to use this features are hackers who will now have one more way to hurt those whose accounts they gain access too.

So between the hackers and the users who somehow accidentally delete/rollback some badge, Steam support doesn't want to deal with the inevitable flood of support tickets. Especially for a feature that will upset more people than it will satisfy.

Not sure why you're quoting me, when you're responding to Kitten. Either way, the argument that it is 100% cosmetic and not used by most people isn't very strong. Might as well not have introduced steam cards at all, and what to think of csgo skins that add nothing to gaming functionality.
Lots of work? Maybe. They have a competent team of programmers don't they? It shouldn't be that difficult. And as long as it is a hiding function, there is no potential for massive abuse and damage.

Well CSGO skins were designed to generate them revenue and allow players to distinguish themselves in the game and give people something to strive for and keep playing. So they definitely have a purpose.

Badges were tied into and are required to level your steam level which provides benefits such as a larger friends list so again they are not cosmetic either.

This would be because you don't like how the #76 looks and you'd rather it say 75 instead.

Not to mention what happens when someone gets hacked and they get deleveled back to level 1 and starts complaining. His suggestion wasn't to hide it, but to uncraft the badge losing the cards in the process and all the benefits that come with it.

I won't disagree on that one. Hence, my suggestion of hiding instead of deleting. Which might be a satisfying compromis for OP.

That I agree with, something I've suggested in many of those other threads.

Not uncraft but dammit let us choose which level of the badge to display already, gosh darn it.

If it's the appearance of the badge that's at stake here, how about instead of deleting; allow users to choose which badge they wish to display for that game? Boom, problem solved. You keep your xp, levels, rewards, and your cosmetics will look the way you want them to.

I'm 100% for this.

This does seem like the most viable solution, rather than uncrafting the badge entirely and losing the XP.

No chance for any harm to be done at all.

While that is probably true, there is no harm done in discussing this here.
