And yes, because I have housemates who are obsessed with the VR and I'd still like to use my steam library to play other games whilst I wait my turn for the VR :)
Go to Steam menu
Click SETTINGS
choose the In-Game tab
UNCHECK "Use Desktop Game Theatre when launching desktop games while SteamVR is active"
Wallah!!! ^_^
Same game, I can understand for co-op reasons.
Different games, I don't see why that would be necessary.
I have a bunch of Housemates that like playing the VR, but my computer is the only one capable of playing it. so it's handy for me to still be able to play/use steam for myself whilst they use the VR :)
Thanks man! very helpful for me too, my daughter wants to play vr and i still wana play rocket league haha
Obviusly while I play a game like DbD I want to only hear the sound from that game. When my wife is playing Synth Rider at the same time she obviously only wants to hear sound from that game. None of the two games allow it to configure an output device and just use the system standard..
You'll need to do that through Windows. (assuming Windows10)
Go to your Sound settings in control panel, scroll down to the bottom to Advanced Sound Options.
This should come up with a menu where you can individually control applications input/ output devices and individual sound levels.
You should be able to change the VR game to the VR headset only whilst leaving everything else to go through your regular headset. :)
Hope this helps!
I have AMD APU and nvidia CPU so i use windows settings to choose which app uses which. With this sollution i can play my normal games on APU and the one playing vr can enjoy vr!
Glad this could help! ^_^ thankfully the method of doing this hasn't changed since I created the post :D
