+1 to Dr.Shadowds. Open dialogue with the devs/publishers.
I did complain to Amplitude Studios via steamforums, amplitudeforums, and amplitude discord for jacking up the price for some DLC's months ago. Now all new DLC content and games are much fairer for AU customers.
Right now I'm doing the same thing with Supergiant

I'm all for rants here but atleast try to open some dialogue with the people who actually have control over the issue.
GST was already added there earlier this year.
Also Steam doesn't get your GST, your Government gets the GST... I don't know why you think Steam getting your GST, or doing it for GST.
The very 1st post, should be a hint to you that Steam wasn't the one setting the prices.

^This.
Given the ACCC gave Valve a $3 million fine last time, it won't be long before Valve are back in court getting pummelled by our judiciary.
Pummeled for what? Doing exactly what the government wants them to do? The AU people wanted the AU currency, Valve has given them the currency. AU government told Valve they must also put the AU taxes on the games that all goes to the government. Valve has done that.
Now lets see if this might actually get through to some people....
VALVE DOES NO SET THE PRICES ON THE GAMES!!!! THE DEVELOPERS/PUBLISHERS OF THE GAMES ARE THE ONES WHO SET THE PRICES ON THE GAMES.
If they prices are higher, BLAME THE DEVELOPERS/PUBLISHERS. Go post in their discussion areas and ask them to change things.
If you can no longer buy a game that you used to be able to BLAME THE DEVELOPERS/PUBLISHERS. Go post in their discussion areas and ask them to change things.
Also the nearly 3 million dollar fine was because Valve didn't have refunds. They fought in court, lost and are finally past all that which is why everyone now actually has refunds and why AU residents now have AU pricing, which everyone told them their prices would be higher and that some games would become unavailable and why they would be higher and unavailable.
Steam adds your currency, but claims it's a cash grab... You must not realize your AUD is not equal to USD, look it up there's about 40 cents difference per dollar...
Again Steam didn't set the prices, the game Devs/Pubs did, it's not rocket science, Steam can't force them to set the prices they want to sell at if you somehow didn't know this.
BTW that law suit was about the refund policy, not because of the prices, or anything else, just the refund policy...
Its 30%, go away, do your research and then come back and post.
If i had a $ for every time someone pretended to know about this topic, i'd be richer than i am now.
Thats the headline, but there is more to it than refunds.
If you read the judgement you will see Valve claimed they didn't operate in AU so no need to obey AU law.
Our Judge disagreed and fined them $3 million dollars.
Thats a pummelling alright, Valve bent over and took it with a smile :)
Calm down, go away and educate yourself about Valves Vs ACCC and then come back and post with relevance.

The judgement is also available.
It was misleading and deceptive conduct.
Most people from OS call it "its about refunds" because they just read the headline, they don't actually know our law.
Also $3 mil sounds like a lot on our level but thats actually a that's practically petty cash for Valve.
For sure, its pocket change for Valve.
Steam fail to follow the laws in AU which is why they were sued, they try to fight it, ofter the refunds, as well add the refund system, but has to pay the fine, what you're complaing in your 1st post is claiming Steam setting the prices, when Steam didn't as all prices are set by the Devs and Pubs just as a reminder again to you.
The exchange rate is 1AUD = ~70cUS. That is a 30pc differential.
Try to actually understand what is being said before you waste everyones time with this junk reply.
So you totally agree with what i just said in relation to the Valve VS ACCC court action.
Why try to argue a point you agree on?
As a reminder to you, when our prices were measured against the USD, our prices were lower in real terms.
I don't believe anybody is claiming Valve set the prices, its about being price gouged.
I guess thats why Gaben is mega rich and you work for someone else.
