FPS counter toggle key
Hi,

It would be amazing to be able to toggle the FPS counter.
When adjusting a games settings for that perfect stable framerate, it would be nice to not have to log out of a game just to turn off the counter.

I use other programs to view FPS because the Steam one is a bit wonky at times.

I think you can make a script to change it and bind it to keys to accomplish that.

Some games even have their own FPS displays.

What program do you use? Does it also show CPU use?

Fraps comes to mind, it has a toggle. RadeonPro too.

Ah, fraps. I forgot about Fraps.

You can use MSI Afterburner[www.msi.com]. It's sort of the de facto overlay for things like FPS/temps/speeds.

ofc... But did anyone mention the built in Steam one? No. That's why I mentioned it..

OP is talking about the Steam one, that's why he posted it in this forum section.

Also the built-in one does not have a toggle, yet.

Then why does this forum exsist if the OP knows that Steam has one?

Because OP wants a key to TOGGLE it on and off IN GAME.

ha ha. Reading comprehension is hard isn't it?

Anyone know a good program that shows CPU usage and GPU usage that can be toggled?

I'm necroing this old thread instead of making a new one about the same topic. I used to use FRAPs when I needed an FPS counter for a game that didn't have its own. But FRAPS is windows only and I'm on linux now, so I'm relying on Steam's FPS counter. I'm thankful to have it, but I usually only want it on for a bit to tweak my settings, or check if a certain area is tanking my FPS. Having to go back to steam's settings to enable and disable it isn't convenient. I'd love to be able to map it to a hotkey!

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
