That is uploaded artwork that you can post all over the forums, once you upload them to your profile.

Stuff didn't happen in chat aswell so far and guys had millions of opportunities to send me pictures I don't want to see, so.... Other platforms manage that, why isn't Stean capable to? resetera is perfectly.

We have more. We don't need more ways for users to abuse the forums and post spam/memes everywhere.

Also, not everyone has unlimited bandwidth. Most in the SEA region have limited mobile data and that would eat it up like nothing else.

Then make an option for every individual to choose for themselves. It does work on most browsers aswell if you blocked it. Same with the data, most mobile phones are capable to block certain things beforehand and make it an option. It is pretty simple and requires barely effort to do so.

All UGC will appear in this way, that is, with the exception of reviews since they don't have a preview.

With pictures (links by themselves), you don't get a display (embedded preview).

The lead to the external web-page itself where you can view the image itself.

That is why, as said, you can just use an Artwork instead if you want to have your own preview.

GIFs themselves can just obliterate your band-with and if you're on a potato device, it's as sluggish as a snail.

Lets be honest, the Steam search function is horrible compared to what I am used to and I've researched more scientific papers than I want to admit. Are there any possibilities to filter any things?

Alright, I do agree with the GIF stuff. It is plausible and would be harder. But pictures? I'm talking about an option to toggle these things. And Artwork? I don't want to upload Artwork to show a picture directly, also I have to tick that I am the OWNER of this picture.

We embedded YouTube videos, it is time to grow up and adapt to the year 2018. If people don't like it, make it an option, it is actually that simple.

I don't dislike the concept or suggestion all-together.

The issue at hand (from what i can foresee) is that is prone to be abused.

Those content rules aren't always given attention and even if that's done - complying with them becomes non-existent.

Some UGC already have a blur, with an algorithm that is less than perfect.

That doesn't warrant the upload of inappropriate content though, I.e sexual and what not.
