Family share

I was advised to give my thoughts here, so here I am. I connected my account with my daughters account so we could 'family share, and share games, however, the way steam family shares doesnt allow for us both to play games at the same time, not even different games.. this should be called "have as many accounts as you want for 1 individual " rather than family share, I see lots of people use the family share option to start a new account to have multiple accounts in a game they play... but this does nothing to help 'families' as the name suggests... xbox and ps4 allow game share, but only with 1 other account at a time.. perhaps steam could look into this as an option...?

User the search feature, as this as been brought up before. Family sharing is working as intended.

Its designed to allow a family PC to share games among different accounts.

Consoles have physical discs you can share. Steam does not.

Works as intended , like if I buy a toy car, and share it with my sister, yep, same thing. That's how the license works, if you want to play, you probably want to either add more friends, or buy a copy. Buying a second copy of a game the 2 of you love is a way of telling the developers to create more similar games.

No they don't, I download my games, so no disk.. and we have 2 xbox ones, 1 for me, 1 for my daughter, and we can share my gold live account and all games, and play them at the same time together... Same for the PS4, I have a PS4, and my brother who lives in a different town, shares his games with me, so i have access to all his games and can play together at the same time.. Steam has this capability, as it lets us play together for 5 minutes... if it can do it for 5 minutes, it can do it full stop, they just choose not to for fear of losing a few bucks. It just means I'll tell my daughter to stick with the xbox one.

Yes it does they work by allowing you to set one console as being you "home" one which allows any user to access your content on that console while you can access it on any console because it is tied to your account.

Just like mobile games, which are far bigger than console, PC games are licensed and distributed differently. Being a PC centric platform, Steam will predominantly be constrained to only license using those rules that have long governed PC platforms.
