Giphy Rating System

Hi Hi,

New steam chat lets you add random giphy by typing /giphy and the any words of your choosing.

But the thing is the gif's it brings up are not really random & we keep getting certain ones over and over, for example, I'll sign into a group chat and a friend willl say '/giphy Hi Dem' and we'll get a certain gif, then a little later some one will make another giphy with my name 'Dem' some where in there and the same picture will show up.

If it's a giphy that we all like thats fine, but when it is one everyone in chat finds untasteful for the words used it to bring it up it can get annoying.

It would be really nice if there could a rating for each giphy so that everyone can choose if they feel the giphy is appropriate to the sentence or word that brought the giphy up.

Then ones with higher ratings by the current people in chat will show up more and the ones that have lower rating will show up less or not at all.

I know personally there is a few that keep coming up in our chat that I would like to stop showing up.

So let me get this straight, you don't like it keep showing certain one everytime, but you want a rating system to show certain one everytime? Did I understand that right?

We in our chat group want a way to stop certain ones showing up, yes.

But there are others we are fine with and others we really like and find very funny, which we would like to show up more frequently.

So thought maybe a rating system, something like a out of 5 star rating that you can pick on each giphy would be a good way to go about this.

So basically when you get sick, or chances of it being the one you hate that got rated up by everyone will show up everytime is what you wanted?

we want the ones we like to show up more and the ones we don't like to show up less or not at all.

When people type my name 'Dem' in a /giphy we get thses ones alot

and non of us like these, as it couldn't be further away from something that is related to me.

being able to rate these down or stop them showing up all together when we type '/giphy ... Dem ...' is something we would like to see added

What I'm saying is you want people to vote on things which may be things you like, or not, but it's not just you voting, it's everyone else that is 15+ million that may be voting against you, maybe things you don't like, that happen to may just get top rated.

IMHO it should be truely random, which they should rework it, to make sure it completely randomly select whatever, instead of getting popular voted ones that everyone just picks, or instead of getting the things everytime as we have now. It kind of defeat the purpose calling it random, if you want it to be only the popular ones that get, instead of giving any of the others a chance at all, just my two cents.

No we want to vote in our chat, not the whole world. I stated this in almost every post, 'we in our chat'

Basically you want them to track you for things you like, and don't like.
And that's what I was saying, not really random, if you only want popular voted ones to show instead of everything else, right now it's not good IMO since it brings up same things, which why I said they need to rework it to make sure it's completly random every, or almost everytime.

Yes track just in each group chat, if you go into a new chat then random ones that have down rated in other group chats might show up again depending on the rates already in the group chat.

There are some we would like to show up more as well as some we really like and are very funny and we have inside jokes with them.
ATM these ones are still showing up, but if they make it truly random then we might never be able to have these show up again.
