Regardless of distance, the DL servers can obliterate connections. I can set mine to S. Korea (I'm in the US) and still get the maximum speed I should get. There really isn't a need to have one in every country in the world.

'Most states' are really not even half the states. I seriously don't understand your problem. Scotland is not the most densly populated country there is. The population and the number of users have a much greater impact on server reliability than distance has.

Due to the number of people accessing it, after all why not just have 1 big server for everyone in the world if it wasn't for the number of people accessing it at once. 300+ million people in the US, 5+ million in Scotland. 65 million in the UK in total, so it makes sense that your area of the would would require less servers.

Here in Canada not every province has a server because population is not even close to the same in some of the provinces. The nearest server to me is something like 1200+ KM.

So you don't get one dedicated to your country due to the low population. Doubt they are even going by the population thats officially in your country, they are more than likely going by how many in that area connect to Steam.

Why does it have to come from a server thats closer to you? Just pick any server. I don't use any server near me and my downloads are fine. Ever consider the issue is with your ISP?
