Organizing your Wishlist - Several ideas
Note: I know that at least some of these are not new suggestions, however the ones that I found from the past appeared to be more than 8 months old. If I have missed a more recent post or if I have broken a forum rule in posting this, please let me know. Thanks!

Short Request: I would love to have a way to organize my wishlist a lot more comprehensively.

My Suggestions:
  1. Give us the ability to place purchase orders at a specific price point, similar to the Steam Marketplace. Example: I want this game, but I would like to buy it only if it falls under $5.00. Please go ahead and purchase it for me if it does using my Steam Wallet. If it is not possible or desirable to auto-buy once the price drops below a certain threshold, I would like the opportunity to have it only notify me of a wishlist sale opportunity if the threshold has been met. Plus, I would think that Valve would love to have that type of data to share with their developers.

  2. Multiple wishlists, or sortable private tags for wishlisted items. There are a great many games that I would like to purchase, but I would like the ability to sort them in ways besides a simple ranking. Most major online shopping sites (Amazon, Newegg, etc) allow you to create multiple wishlists easily.

Thoughts: Basically, there are a lot of factors that go into whether I purchase a game. Assuming I am interested in the game, do I like the price point? Would I rather wait until it is out of Early Access? Perhaps I WOULD like to wait until it is out of early access, but if it suddenly goes on sale for under $5... is it worth the purchase to me?

The advent of categories for our steam libraries was remarkably useful for many of us, and I want to bring a little more of that sophistication to our wishlists. Plus, I have to imagine that Valve would love to be able to mine that data for their developers. "See? Your price is too high. There are 7500 people that would buy it today if you dropped your price to $19.99 on a sale."

Anyone have other suggestions or thoughts? Is it just me? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for reading!

I second that! I often buy gifts for others and would love to be able to tag them for a certain person.

1. Would probably never happen because users would set unreasonably low prices and get mad when they never get that deep of a discount. Then they'll get mad at Valve when they shouldn't be mad at all even if the publishers set the prices for their games on Steam.

2. Sure.

I posted a similar request last month, and after searching, found that people have been asking for customizable wishlists for years. Keep asking. Maybe one day we'll get it.

For second suggestion, You can try tampermonkey script for chrome - SteamCustomTag
https://github.com/Rexedead/Steam-Custom-Tag
and add tags you want

using this logic why bother to wishlist the game at all and wait for a sale? if i want the game full price i just buy it immediately upon deciding that. but if i decide i want the game but would only get it on sale i wishlist it. that way i can track it and wait for a sale.

the whole 'users are too stupid to use something so i advocate we dont give it to them' logic is untenable. what do you cut your meat with since a knife could be dangerous ...

I think number 1 suggestion should be striked for sure. We don't want any automatic purchases with wallet, it's risky anyways.

Number 2 suggestion is exactly what I was thinking a day ago. We need to sort games by genre/ price/ ect; Anything that matters for us.

More sorting please! Maybe have multiple lists like in Amazon?

Right now I just add games that seem even kinda interesting to me, games that I truly wish to buy but wait until they go on sale/are released, and everything in between.

Being able to generate multiple lists would be precious. Please consider.

Your suggestions sound useful to me too.

I've been wanting this stuff since 2013, specifically number 2!

When will they come to their senses and make it easy to take our money? I want games. You want my money. Make it easy. More importantly, why isn't this topic waayyy more discussed on these forums? This is such a basic quality of life concept for a games marketplace, it boggles the mind that more people aren't bothered at all.

Then again, you do have people defending micro-transactions, so who knows.

AUto purchase is not gonna be a thing. Sorry.
Buuut I have said that the addition of Categories to the wishlist (like the library has) would be a great idea. After your Wishlist passes 200 it becomes a nightmare.

i wish that you could sort your wishlist by storage size so i can know which games to buy and play and which games are gonna take a long time to download

PSA for anyone who just found this thread.

If you wishlist is too big and already crashing too much like mine (I have 75 total now, still much smaller than others), it is just as crashy inside the client vs the browser so it seems like maybe its a large # of elements problem. Anyway...

WORKAROUND! you can go into your browser and basically shrink down everything to the smallest size i.e. hold ctrl and scroll down. Then you have more elements per page. Not perfect but you can scroll through them MUCH faster when moving them around. Hope this helps in the interim while they maybe one day work out something better
