using your example, since you own alot of FPS, that usually means that you like those games only if thats the majority of game you play and buy. If another person (a person with majority of RTS) looks at your review, he wil get an idea of the type of gamer you are with the #in-common games.
i rather look at the "# incommon games" than look into your profile at the game you have and see if your review is trustworthy and such.
also, this would be MY use for the "# in-common games" if it was implemented. other people might like to see this or other people might not even care about it during reviews. Other people might like to friend other people that share/play the same game with etc. there are endless things people could do with a "in-common game" tab/link.
When reviews are sorted by summary, it'll show the most helpful recent reviews. Read some of them and then sort by most helpful. This will show the most helpful reviews of all time. Read both positive and negative, this will give you a pretty decent idea about what's good in game and what's bad. That's enough to decide do you want to buy game, and there's no way that all those top rated reviews are biased.
But I do agree, an experienced RTS player who played a lot of RTS games before will probably write much better detailed review than person who played RTS game for the first time.
Let me square this. Review Bias is not a thing because being startments based primarily on personaly experience and the opinions and impressions thereof, reviews are always biased. All reviews. No exception.
Read the review and make a decision based upon the points mentioned therein. What some reviewers list as flaws can easily be selling points to others.
yes, i do this already. i dont filter and such. That is true that you can look at the most upvoted one to get the most helpful one, but you have to agree the majority, is still not a good opinion to go by.
The point i was making is along the lines of this: a person with a wide variety of games (most people) looks at say Assassin creed 2. The majority say its positive. that person buys and plays it and doesnt like it because its "repetitive grind" etc.. The top review says "best story" while he thinks its meh. If that person was able to see another reviewer say "boring story", i fell like the "# in common games" could be a EXTRA way to side or not side with that review.
I dont want to replace anything. No i dont want to make it easier to find RTS games reviewed by people who like RTS games.
Review Bias is a huge thing and Bias in general, is problematic. Ive posted examples above or within the thread for the point i was trying to make.
Yes I agree. A "in-common" games TAB would be cool. I was a bit misleading in the initial statement because I want the "in-common tab" , and I wrote MY OWN specific use for it. most people i would assume dont really care about bias and such and would use it to compare games with their friends and such. I agree, if there where more player data, it would help. my suggestion is a small one, in which i think the initial statment made it seems it was a big change. its would be cool to have a "in-common" tab in general tbh.
If this would be just another way to sort reviews I don't see why not add it. People who want to use it could use it, and people who don't want it can just ignore it.
+1 . my initial statement made it sound like it was a 1 use feature, but in-common tab in general would be sweet.
i marked your answer on my other topic, but in this one the feature i was talking about is this: go to a game > scroll down to reviews > someone's review, look under the profile name and you can see "# products in account" . under that i want their to be a "# in-common games" for convenience when looking at multiple reviews.
Yes! exactly. did you make that? looks legit lol
