Can you remember my age and/or birthday?!?!
Why do I get asked my age every time I click on a game that has mature content when I am signed in with an account telling you I am an adult?

I consent to see anything any game on this store has to offer. STOP ASKING ME!

Give us an option to turn off age gates!!!!!!

---Edit---

Sorry I forgot Steam doesn't ask for your age when you sign up. Maybe you should start?

They are no longer stored in your cookies. You have to enter it in every time now.

They changed this silently on Tuesday around maintenance.

It now states this...

This data is for verification purposes only and will not be stored.

I don't have to re-enter every time... I can just click any 17+ game page just fine. (just clicked witcher 3 to test it out)

But if something did change, then they're trying to cover their ass versus legal issues.

Even before it was annoying because it would bring up a screen that already had your birthday entered.

SURELY they can work out your age if you are signed in.....

steam doesn't store your age, furthermore due to legal issues they are required to have the age gate. What happens if a minor somehow gets onto your computer and clicks onto a store page, even in a completely secluded environment, if someone brings a kid over and you take your eyes off em for a second, ya know?

Session cookies are still there. That is all. They are no longer stored after you log out.

It used to store the exact date you entered in.

Yeah Steam needs to be super careful despite the fact a kid could find actual hardcore porn on the web browser without a single age gate. Meanwhile Steam has no real adult content.

They need to pull their heads out of their ass.

It's an actual law in some states of the US of A, and other parts of the world and no, they don't track what state you're from either.

They should start doing then.

It's a law despite porn sites not doing it? I call BS on that one.

The sale/renting of violent/17+ games to minors is illegal, in some states, yes. As for the other thing, those sites are always dodgy with the law aren't they?

Except the part where ANY minor can enter a false birthday. Gaining access to those mature titles and purchase them with a parents bank account, without any repercussions.

Not to mention the sqeekers you hear online in 18+ games.

Age gates DON'T WORK. They are as bad as DRM. All it does is make everything slow and annoying for everyone else.

But at that point Valve can't be held responsible for selling mature content for kids, as the buyer claimed to be an adult.

EXACTLY! So why are they still asking us to confirm our age!?!? It's pointless.
