Just like Steam computer But tailored to mobile platforms and software?

Because mobile platforms are walled gardens controlled by Apple or Android and thus are generally impossible for 3rd parties to have their own 'side store'

Why not virtualize the apps?

For one, the inputs for some games would be god awful. Secondly, steam has the pc market (mainly) where as google and apple have the mobile. Best to keep each company in their best spots.

Liquidsky, Shadow, Simplay, Snoost, Parsec, G3 instances and many other of fast growing list of cloud gaming solutions offer full steam client (large, small and big modes) and windows desktop access.

Having pinch zoom working in big picture when accessing my PC games on a shield tablet is awesome.

Having cloud gaming service streaming to 55" 4k TV is awesome too.

Steam is already in the cloud for accessing from any device with a display, internet connection and gamepad.

Hugely underestimated gaming experience, imo

Back at CES 2014 I was all aboard the steam machine hype train. Valve and partners were at CES talking about and showing off Steam Machines.

Nvidia were also at CES 2014 talking about games, chips and cars when announcing the Tegra K1, Shield Tablet and many more interesting things for gamers to get excited about which included a demo of Gamestream being used to stream PC games on largest screen at home, player paused game and picked up from where they left off on an android device (shield portable).

It was then explained the game was being played from a server which was 6000 miles away when playing same game on shield portable.

Today nvidia are using GRID platform for any third party to deliver their own cloud gaming, HPC environment or simply windows vdi to use personally or as a service to enterprise and/or customers.

Valve have much too announce regarding their support for, development of and hopes for cloud gaming solutions.

One thing for sure is Steam Machines have vanished whereas cloud gaming is just starting to gain traction.

SATV is the ultimate steam machine.

Now would be a good time for Valve to announce their own virtual gpu powered steam service.

One thing for sure is the best of gaming no longer needs users to own gaming spec PC hardware. Too prove this concept is why Nvidia provided Shield gaming platform and have provided the infrastructure to make cloud gaming more than possible.

At CeS 2014 nvidia founder and CEO also foretold how android was coming to disrupt every computing sector including PC gaming space.

Four years later Tegra now powers Shield, Jetson and Drive platforms and together with Tesla V100 are making the long believed impossible possible including fully autonomous driving cars (level 5).

Can you think of one thing you would like to do when sitting in a car when it is driving you to your next destination?

Yep, playing steam games would be pretty cool!.

The cloud is the future of gaming. PC platform is not, or at least not as we know it.
