Generic (DInput) controller configuration suggestions
Hello, everyone. I've already posted these suggestions on the Steam Controller forum, but now I believe they suit this forum better, so I'm reposting. Back on topic, these are two suggestions I have for the Steam Controller configuration tool for generic (i.e. DInput) controllers:

Enable "generic" button prompts in Big Picture mode
When using generic controllers, Big Picture mode still uses Xbox prompts for the four face buttons. I would like to be able to change them to generic four-button prompts since there are many controllers out there with four face buttons but wildly different button names. These generic prompts are used in the PC version of Final Fantasy XV and when playing most Nintedo Switch games using a single Joy-Con, for example. In addition to that, I think these prompts should also be used in the list of buttons which appears when configuring a mode shift in the controller configurator.
I've made a mockup[imgur.com] to show how the screen would look like with this change (I made it using paint, so it doesn't look very good, but it gets the message across).

In fact, I would also like to enable these generic prompts for all control schemes available. I believe some players would appreciate the option, at least.

Allow the addition of extra buttons and gyro controls
Some generic controllers have more buttons than an Xbox controller, so I would like to be able to configure all of them. In the "define layout" screen, add an option called "add extra button". After clicking there, the user would be prompted to press all the extra buttons and give each of them a name. Later, when configuring the controls for a game, there would be a box labeled with the words "extra buttons". Clicking on it would show a list of extra buttons and enable the user to configure them.

As for the gyro, I had the Switch and PS3 controllers in mind when thinking about implementing it, but I believe there are other generic gamepads with gyros around (if I'm not mistaken, there are some 8bitdo controllers with gyro support). To configure the gyro, the user would have to click on an option named "configure gyro" on the bottom of the "define layout" screen.

I have made another mockup[imgur.com] to show how the configuration screen would look like with these changes.

That's it for my suggestions. As I said before, I also posted this on the Steam Controller forum, so if by reposting on another forum I ended up violating a forum rule, I apologize in advance and will delete this post if told to do so by a moderator.
