Some users don't want you to see it - hence they won't add it.
Helps me determine beggers pretty quickly.
Also what stops them from putting in a fake name.... requesting a "real name" doesn't actually mean you will get a real name, there is no way for Valve to know if its a real name or not. Just like requesting a reason they are trying to add you as a friend doesn't actually mean they are telling you the truth. This is why requests like these are pointless waste of a Steam programmers time.
He doesn't want to know your real name
He's simply wondering and requesting for an option to come along with the steam username, the real name (IF THE PERSON HAS IT LISTED) when he's searching for people that he may know of.
In the original post, no one mentioned anything about that, neither was it implied.
Everything said pertained to requests (friend invites) - nothing to do with the database and search queries.
Let's see if that feature in PSN will survive the new privacy rules made by EU, I doubt it.
If it's listed on the profile he can see it there before requesting to be friends, if the profile is friends only/private he has no need to know it, unless he get's accepted as a friend.
Thank you Helen :)
only you can ever see it so its not a big rpblem
