New option for the Xbox Controller's home button launching Big Picture mode when steam is focused.
First off, I hope that this somehow gains traction and will prompt Valve to add a "HOME BUTTON DOES NOT LAUNCH BIG PICTURE MODE" option. It has been a nuisance for a LONG time. There are many discussions out there with confusion as to how this works or asking for a fix/solution to problems associated with this functionality.

The problem is that the Xbox home button will launch big picture mode if steam is the active window <skip to the next paragraph if you're just looking for an quick workaround>. If you have "Guide Button Focuses Steam" enabled in the settings, this basically means if you want to shut off a wireless Xbox controller, the first time you hold down the Xbox button, steam becomes the focus. When the controller actually shuts off, the computer will act as though you've pressed the home button again, opening Big Picture Mode.

First let me tell you an easy work around to stop this issue for the short term. Once you are in Big Picture mode, go to the settings wheel, and under "Controller" click "Controller Settings". Deselect "Guide Button Focuses Steam". Now, when you want to turn off your controller, make sure that you have a DIFFERENT window aside from a steam window selected and you should not open big picture mode.

However, I don't know about you folks, but I won't remember to do this every time. The code it would take for Valve to implement a "Home Button does not Launch Big Picture Mode" option would be minimal and, judging from the sheer number of posts associated with this problem, make many users happy. The scenario that I'm describing isn't the only annoyance associated with Big Picture Mode being launched by the home button. Wired Xbox controller users are experiencing problems as well.

I am not sure if this is a Windows 10 specific issue, or a Windows specific issue in general, but that's the operating system I am currently using and may or may not be associated with what's going on.

Here's to hoping.

Cheers
