Steam is all about the community and I want to tell the community who enters my profile from which particular gaming communities I am...
At least make the limit to 12 or 16 (3-4 lines of 4 games). I think everyone would end up happier after this improvement. Visiting people's profiles would be much more exciting...
That way it would not harm the leveling system or might even incentivise people to level up their profiles. I think it's a good and refreshing idea.
'Game Collector' showcase is the only real showcase I personally need. Wish I had options to expand it...
Words ruin the feeling
They ruin everything
as mentioned before, your suggestion is actually pretty useless, it improves nothing, it helps to no one, just you....and there are many workarounds, artwork showcase, screenshot showcase, you can display your favourite games there for example, or then custom box and description....if you refuse those, then there's no help for you...
and I don't need suggestions for workarounds, I can come up with them myself. Here, I am suggesting a new thing
By your logic we could just remove all the showcases and leave custom info boxes only
and yes, there are more important things to solve, so your "problem" of showing 5 games instead of 4 is really not that big and really will help nobody....
so maybe, please, start using logic, if you have any
However, a few more games sounds good to me, maybe 8-10 in total seems a reasonable increase. I can also see this being beneficial to Valve and developers for more potential sales. You click on someone's profile and see their favorites are also your favorites, but they have a couple games you haven't played in that box as well. Being able to click those games and find your way to the store page is something I'd wager more people would do over reading games in a custom info box and then typing said games into the store search to potentially purchase. Sure the numbers of potential sales would probably be miniscule, if any. But I've personally already bought games and/or added some to my wishlist from other users featured games several times now. And a larger sample size of overlap in favorites would only increase me doing that more often.
Ultimately, I just agree that 4 featured games is too limited if you remove workarounds from the equation (which I would also still use with an increase).
Why 15? Why not 20?
Why 20? Why not n?
Why n? Why not n+5?
Some might argue that the profile pages are too heavy already...
