Steam Network Interface Adapter Configurable
I have multiple, separate Internet connections on my PC. I would like to be able to choose which network adapter Steam binds to.

In other applications with this option you choose the IP address of the adapter you wish to bind, and if there's no connection some will failover to the Windows default route.

The failover behavior isn't necessary to solve my problem. I just need Steam to access the Internet through the right adapter.

Thank you for your consideration.

I would love to see that !

I have a 10Mbps ADSL and use 4G to download so i can still browse internet without issues.
I tried to use ForceBindIP but doesn't seem to always work so a native feature in steam would be great !

Obs Studio has one, i wished more software added this even if it's not an important features for most people.
I think this is something windows itself already allows you to configure.

Steam ignores ForceBindIP, but thanks for the reply.
That's sort of it. I don't think STeam has any ability to actually detect your connection. I don't think it should either. Thats the sort of thing the OS should be handling.
Steam will automatically choose whatever adapter has the highest priority, on the fly, as it runs. I don't know if it does this for every single packet, but if you monitor Steam's network activity with two adapters connected you can watch how its activity migrates over to the "lower-priority" adapter if the higher one is disconnected then if you reconnect the higher-priority adapter Steam's network traffic migrates back over to it.

This happens whether or not ForceBindIP is used. The only way to make Steam choose an adapter is to give that adapter the "best" (lower = better) connection rating.

The problem with this is that a lot of apps and Windows itself are also incompatible with ForceBindIP and also migrate to the "best" adapter dynamically as Steam does.

Windows Update Peer-to-Peer (I forget what it's called) is the biggest bandwidth culprit. This can be managed by setting the top connection to "Metered" and Windows will failover to the next-highest-rated adapter.

What we really need is for Steam to let us pick our preferred adapter for gaming. But there are other ways to manage your network connections, none of them convenient.

I had a similar problem, my main Ethernet network was very saturated, when using it simultaneously with games that send and receive many packets, it sometimes jerked me.

For ForceBindIP to Steam to work, you have to apply it directly to the game. Take into account if it is 64 or 32 bits. And you have to create a batch:

@echo off
cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\ForceBindIP\"
ForceBindIP64 192.168.0.111 "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\AoE2DE\AoE2DE_s.exe"

this has worked for me

then just change the exe path to steam one .....
Check ForceBindIP documentation.
I recommend to use more advanced tools for it, such as:
"ccproxy"
"proxycap"
"exitlag"
"proxifer"
