There was even a way to clear it before the update.
Use nicknames. That's what that function was designed for.
The other part, meh...
if you give someone on your steam friendlist a nickname, it will forever stay attached to them unless you change /remove it. take advantage of that, especially when you have over 100 people on your friend list.
1. open your steam friends & chat window (its located on bottom right corner in your steam client)
2. right click any user ingame
3. click ''view game info''
Not when the user uses the "Clear Previous Aliases" function, you know, one of the main reasons why the OP made this thread?
And when the user uses the "Clear Previous Aliases" function on their profile, guess what happens to that list of aliases you are trying to point out...
They get deleted.
Yes. Hence, the thread...
In fact, I think this thread is only about what does or does not show up in the friends list window itself.
Those are set as is when the transaction occurred no matter what. But it still doesn't help those who don't regularly trade with users they play or are just friends with.
If we want to change our aliases 100 times a day everyday to suit our mood, that’s nobody’s business but our own.
Just add a nickname if one of your friends changes names often. And if they’re not on your friend list, then why do you care what they do? As a matter of fact, what others want to do is not your business to dictate.
We are on a forum, we are just changing views and opinions here.
