Remove "What's New" from the top of the new library view?
Anyone know if there's a way to remove that first "What's New" section from the top of the new library view?

No way to remove it. You can only remove the items listed in it. It was one of the most disliked features in the beta, and was still left in after a large number of beta users posted in protest of it.
I see. Thank you for responding, ExiledAlchemist.
I hate the What's New page. OMG I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate it. This is a case of, "It ain't broke, so let's fix it." ♥♥♥♥ you Valve, it's so annoying.
How do you remove items listed in it?

EDIT:

Just right click the update and "remove" if you remove all the updates it hides the "what's new" bar.

Right click the item and you'll have a few options.
I asked the same an hour ago, here is a solution but is not permanent (better than nothing) thanks to @Skitchy for it

this works for me, extremely simple fix

The problem with that 'fix' is you can't get anymore steam client updates unless you edit that one file, and every update will revert it back to the current UI.

You mean like game updates or just steam itself? I can go without updating steam ever again or even most of my games.

OMG those aren't items you follow in the Store but are Steam trying to get you to play your older games!

This needs to be removed.
I went to a game in the News feed, clicked on Ignore in the Store, it's still in my news feed.

This is NOT my news feed, this is Steam's feed.

Agreed this What's new is just ads. Even if I was OK with Ads Steams recommendation AI is so bad it's like if the Terminator universe replaced all the normal terminator models with robotic Timmah's from South Park. I suppose the only option is launch everything from short cuts until they find a way to pipe ads to those too. Gaming has become like dealing with some drunk ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in an alley whose ♥♥♥♥ his pants and threw up on himself and won't stop trying to fight you.
I want it gone too, in fact, I want the old UI back. There is not a single improvement in this and they took a lot of things I used daily. They fixed nothing and improved nothing. I HATE this update.

Who ever made that thing is an idiot. We've been using Netflix (which this update reminds me of) as well as google/youtube to train AI. The news feed is just a recommendation engine and a horrible one. Turns out they know..

Do they seriously expect me to train their BS AI with my thousands of games and I can't view what selections I made to train it.

Get the ♥♥♥♥ outta here.

Was the number 1 complaint during beta

They know we hate it and are ignoring us. These are basically ads and spam messages which actually give publishers control of what shows up at the top of your library. It's self-important at best and anti-consumer at worst.
