C'mon chaps, adapt and survive. Or was Darwin really THAT wrong ?
Yes, what possible interest could anyone - maybe a streamer/YouTuber - have for being curious what games in their library are currently getting the most attention and therefore most likely to get attention when shared?
Tough question that, I'm not sure anyone can answer it to your satisfaction.
I see a lot of posts like this where people think the store layout has anything to do with the new UI.
edit: I think it's fine to dislike the store layout during a sale, but I just see a lot of people confused and think this is the new default layout or that the store layout is related to the UI changes.
Thank you @RIO!
I am not a software developer, but I have been using computers for 30+ years and have experienced many software and OS releases over the years.
I used to be an early adopter, especially within the realms of music production and games. I would eagerly adopt the "latest and greatest release" without fail. After having working systems (Win, PC and Linux) borked by my choices I learned to do some research and maybe wait until the bugs had been ironed out before upgrading. I decided I no longer wish to be an unwitting beta-tester.
In this case I was not even given the option as to whether I wanted to upgrade. I had no idea the upgrade was coming. And the software in this case was clearly not ready for beta. This is absolutely the worst release I think I've ever seen. Just a complete mess, from software readiness, to response to complaints. I'm actually amazed at the way this is playing out.
EPIC FAAAAIIILLL!!!!
If this is the future of Steam/Valve, I will be seriously reconsidering my position. And I will contact developers of games I like who are only here to ask them to consider their options.
I mean FFS!!!! Can't do a launcher?!?!?!
P.S. You had a decent one just over a month ago ;)
Last three posts (Hansel & Gretel) pretty much say it all.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Cheers,

Your help request: The Steam Client is crashing
Related to: Steam
Message from you on Nov 24 @ 3:42am | 8 days ago
The new client UI is horrible. I do not want it. It is also buggy, and a resource hog, given that it's basically a game launcher with DRM. The "old" UI was not broken. The new UI has definitely not fixed it.
Epic fail.
I have reverted to the "old" UI and frozen client updates.
Please fix your "fix".

Hi Chris,
I am not interested in the Beta program. I don't believe the client needed an update. It did what it was supposed to do, and it did it well. That has now changed for the worse. I am not currently willing to install the latest updates as I am not at all interested in the new "features". Perhaps I shall comment there regardless, as it might mean that my posts don't vanish into megathreads. The obvious attempts to silence dissenters is disgraceful.
This whole thing has been handled ridiculously poorly by Steam/Valve.
I started using Steam to play HL2 (under a different account name). Very controversial at the time. It turned out not to be the end of gaming as we knew it. Turned out rather well, in fact.
But this latest update is complete BS. Don't want it. Bloatware. Not good for a game launcher.
As previously noted, I have reverted to the old UI and stopped updates. Nothing I've seen so far from Valve or moderators on the forums has convinced me to change that.
GOG already has some of my business. They are looking likely to get much more of it in future.
I apologize for any inconvenience.
Best Regards,
maqimusic

No inconvenience at all. We appreciate and encourage feedback from all of our users.
I'm sorry that you're dissatisfied with the new UI update, while we don't have plans to revert it, we do regularly try to incorporate feedback from our users into future updates to Steam. I encourage you to continue sharing your feedback on the forums mentioned above as it is consistently reviewed by our development team.

HI Hansel,
Thank you for your reply.
As usual, your breadcrumbs have disappeared, so we're stuck with this gingerbread and candy for children. I'm not interested in it. You have grown fat, while disguising that fact. I am starving and overworked. I never wanted to be here. I blame you!!!
Good luck for the future. Hope you enjoy the oven :)
Love,
Gretel

[Edited to add asterisk line between posts]
There are real people having real problems, who would appreciate it if you did not do that.
Umm ...
Can you hear yourself?
Are you saying that all of the many people whose posts have been merged into this thread are having a "not real problem"?
Faark off, you faarking shill
You are clearly on the Valve/Steam side of this situation.
Noone is going to lose their life over this. Your analogy is both fallacious and inflammatory. Perhaps you need to get a grip on reality?
So here's the reality:
I can (and do) complain on the forums. What happens is, any new thread I start, or any post in response to any thread disliking the new UI ends up here and out of context. I have been involved in this "discussion" with Valve/Steam and its/their moderators since the release of this atrocity. Check my post history. Up until October 31st I think I had a few posts in Ultimate General: Civil War forums.
So I decided, as others have, to complain directly to the company via a channel that they will actually "respond" to. And as I have shown, their response is wanting.
And I give zero fux for your opinion, as you are not a representative of Steam or Valve.
Which bit of this are you finding hard to understand?
To continue the silly analogy used, it's like calling the police because the only pharmacy in the entire country turned into an icecream store and the phone goes to "leave a message after the beep."
1. The "merging" of all the threads complaining about the new UI is justified; and
2. Direct complaints via Steam Support are unjustified:
Because ... inconvenience to people who don't share those concerns and wasting staff time.
Do I understand you correctly?
If you don't understand what 1. has to do with it then you are absolutely unqualified to comment on this issue.
I suggest that you actually read the thousands of posts about this issue before you start sticking your uninformed nose in.,
