Let us have the old library design back
At least as an option. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Your thread will be "merged" into the pinned UI thread. Welcome to online fascism. Hope you enjoy )
Oh piss off with that creepy language

If the truth is creepy to you, perhaps you need to rethink your position. Especially since that comment is now out of context as that thread has been merged into this one.

Welcome to online fascism. Hope you enjoy :)

not triggered its just incredibly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up to joke about it and prod in such a dumb manner. it's also creepy

What's creepy is what's happening to the complaints. Open your eyes.

Well if that happened you might find out that Steam has been taken over by the reptilians than what? Your whole world view might change and you will see them everywhere . joking

Yeah I hate this UI and the forced spam of bs in my eyes of crap I don't want or care about. Make List View Great Again. Build the Wall around the What's New and community pages! Time for Gaben to find that orange wig(It's in the Orange Box ) and fix the Steam Library UI!

So you are saying because there is some artwork in a grid that makes it like a mobile layout. This just doesn't make sense to me, so I'll have to agree to disagree I guess.
People say it resembles mobile layout. Mobile layout has artwork plates without text captions, and the new ui also has artwork plates without captions.

People can read, games are not movies, flashy UI wastes space (layout) and time (animations), and picture only UI doesn't make sense for games. It makes sense for movies, because they're over in 1 hour and a half and thus require a flashy poster, but aside from movies it is only suitable if developers target children (which aren't allowed on steam in the first place), or idiocracy citizens. Because games take more time to beat, and you don't need to stare at the poster that often.

Previous UI was good. All text and no invasive picture nonsense. Artwork was in background or where it is absolutely needed. New UI turned the launcher into an annoying piece of junk you have to tolerate in order run a game. Definitely a great leap backward from valve's side.
Look if you hate the pictures that you don't really need to look at to use steam that's fine, you hate that it uses 150 or so more megs of ram (after 8 years), that's fine. But it doesn't make it a mobile app, or layout. It just means is has some pictures of game covers, you know like the box art that games have in a store. You hate the new layout, that is your right, but saying it's a mobile layout cause it has pictures is a poor argument in my opinion. Nothing about how it works or the flow is like a mobile app. Desktop apps for music for instance had artwork before mobile was a thing. Many of the complaints are for a return of list view (which I'm sure will come back), and one could argue that list view is like a mobile layout cause I have seen mobile apps with chunky lists that have tiny artwork on the side. I think it would be a poor argument in that case too.

@Gambit-3: Sorry, but you seem to me to be deliberately missing the point. Repeatedly. Meanwhile big upping the new UI. Which looks to me like mobile ♥♥♥♥♥. As many others seem to agree. And it's a resource hog, it would seem. Undesirable in a launcher, wouldn't you think? Or do you?

Think, that is.

Between the way the new UI was forced on ppl with no warning (some of us just use the interface to ... ummm ... play games!!!), and the response from moderators and wannabes like you, (which boils down to "Shutup whingers, you're all wrong. You'll get used to it. Deal with it. It's great! All my friends and Valve say so!"), combined with the "merging" of threads so "normal" users aren't overwhelmed by all the complaints ...

Well, I will repeat my previous comment that you guys should be working for the current White House administration. Because the "Bad UI" is just "fake news". Right?

Actually I think it would be interesting to see sales figures before the update and after... revenue is not profit... but Steam profits from its share of sales... and cash flow should also be an issue for Steam - since it's always an issue. :) ... I've already bought two games someplace else since the update. As I said before... other clients aren't much better... but Steam was better before the update. I don't care about the elaborated discussion about how Steam should do their business and what else... I am a customer - I am really annoyed, So I spent my money someplace else - and I will continue to do so - until I come across a title which is exclusive to Steam... which is (these days) very very unlikely at all. :)

For those of you who can stand the list on the left being there and don't mind having to put in a bit of effort to really customise things, I suggest going to https://playnite.link/ and using that. Frankly I can't see Steam changing their ways considering there is clear and undeniable evidence that our complaints are being ignored.

I legitimately wouldn't have updated the client If I had to see this gaudy UI in the library anytime I wanted to browse/install a new game. It's just hideous. I've used the comparison before to Windows with the horrendous launch of Win 8 and it's UI, this is Valve's equivalent to it. Do a new update akin to how Win 8.1 was, and let us choose to utilize the old UI.

I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about random people's screenshots and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ videos. I'm trying to look to see if there's info on the patch notes for my games. Do the people making these decisions even use your platform, let alone play games?

Wrote a tiny little app, it will let you run/install games using web browser without loading whole steam client... probably risking account ban/termination.

My code is garbage, but at least it doesn't spawn 7+ web helpers and tries to eat all available RAM just to launch/install games.

the better question is why Valve couldn't have figured out to do this themselves
