Steam needs to promote new games far better
The biggest problem with this platform is games can release and people often don't even know about it, you need to do a better job of promoting new games to your customers.

Either do it based off preferences they set themselves and/or based off their libraries.

If I'm a fan of the forest, I should be told about any new games that are like that which release.

The lengths companies have to goto these days to get attention is wrong, and you have all the resources to change that.

Most people still don't know about that, it's not implemented.

From what I see "micro-trailers" is also pretty pointless because it often just shows CGI trailers. Why can't steam pay REAL PEOPLE to do this stuff exactly, why do they need automated machine learning nonsense?

Steam makes hundreds of millions in revenue a year (or far more), they can't pay some people to do this stuff?

No Steam does not have to promote any games better Steam is a shop not an advertising agency or publisher.

The system already recommends games similar to those you play based on the userbases judgements and that is all it can be.

If they are taking 30% of every purchase, yes they do.

No they don't they provide plenty of feature for that 30% including plenty of sales that gain most of those features with Steam taking 0% from them.

Like I say if a game isn't being promoted it isn't the shops it is being sold out that should shoulder the blame that lies with the people whose job it is to promote the games and if they can't be bothered to do it then they don't have what it takes to survive in the business.

It’s literally an announcement you get notified in the client And on the browser. And is literally a giant banner at the top of the store page

If they refuse to do better, someone else will.

The difficulty in getting noticed on Steam is a huge issues for indie developers, if Steam don't want to address that then they are going to regret it later.

I checked the mini trailers, they are almost all terrible with cgi nonsense or some guy talking, because they are all created automatically.

Valve can't even pay someone to do this work and have to make an automated system when they are a billion dollar company.

They pay more for snacks in the canteen than they paid on that system.

I am so glad this is optional.

As for Steam promoting games, please no, let me decide for myself, this "improving user experience" stuff Valve's into really isn't improving anything for me...

No Indie developers need to address it and accept the reality that no matter where they try and go they will have to put in effort to stand out from the competition they just like to blame Steam because it makes them feel good if its somebody elses fault

Promoting means "here look at these new games that are similar to other games you bought in the past it's not you must buy these new games.

Well no, I don't want that in my face. If I want it, I'll look for it.

One of the main features of Steam to me is that they DON'T shove new games down your throat. More often than not it's not newer games that I'm interested in on Steam.

Which new games? See thats the thing. On every given months maybe about ahundred new games are released on steam. WHich ones does steam promote? If they pick favourites they lose their status of neutrality and devs will basically hate that. If they promote everyone equally well then you get the situation we have now.. which is in fact what they do,. Equal promotion for all is the same as no promotion for anyone.

The difference thusly boils down to the developers/publishers doing their part in promoting their game to their target audience and making a good game. Once these conditions are met the dev/pub will always do well. If these conditions are not met then the game can easily fade into the background noise.

Either do it based off preferences they set themselves and/or based off their libraries.

STeam already does thism, in particular it looks at the games you've spent the most time in over the last few weeks, what games you actually have installed, and what store pages you've been looking at.

The lengths companies have to goto these days to get attention is wrong, and you have all the resources to change that.
No its actually right. Thats what competition means. The customer has limited money and time, its your job to make sure the customer believes your product will be the best use of their time and money. And you're competing against everyone else in the industry.
