Hardware Requirements and target resolution.
I feel that both the minimum and the recommended hardware settings should have the resolution, fps, and detail level targeted by that hardware configuration. I started to see it listed by some games for a little while some time back but now it has gone away again, much to my dismay. but I feel that resolution at the very least should be listed so that us users can make informed decisions as consumers, with target fps second while detail level would be more of an added bonus, but can also be just as important. I have two machines I game on, and while one is more than enough than most recommended listings, the other is hard to gauge sometimes as it is an ultrabook with older hardware, which I know the capabilities and specifications of, but am weary sometimes if it can handle a given game based on the listed minimum. My only saving grace with that machine is that its resolution is only 1366x768 so for my hardware it generally works fine if its really close, but if I am spending my money on a product I should not have to rely on guesswork in this manner.
on that same thought the screenshot resolution should also be listed. kind of misleading if a company makes these beautiful 8k shots to sell their game and their target audience is all at 1080p.......

And any idiot who reads this and has the bright idea to tell me that I should be fine with my resolution, without knowing anything else about this machines specs mind you, will be reported for abuse, and you should just go to gog, be happy there, specifically not here. please take this as a discussion concerning consumer rights. My goal is that if enough people, like, pin, favorite, comment in agreement and share in developer forums, that maybe it can happen. To me, something this simple is ridiculous, might lessen the strain on steams return policy, and is akin to buying a car and not being told what size tires you need..........?

As an alternative until, if and when this gets implemented (*), may I suggest the Augmented Steam browser plugin? It adds a performance survey to each store page, with data populated by fellow users.

I'd save the report system for actual abuse. Mods are busy enough as it is.

* In my opinion, because it's unlikely to increase sales, never.

Not likely to be implemented. To many factors affect these things that have nothing to do with the game. PC games are designed to be scaleable with one's system and its natural to aim for what you dconsider the largest demographic . 8K is a fringe market at the moment , and 4k isn't much better.

As for misleading 8k shots...welcome to advertising. They're showing the game as it would look to the highend, the ultimate ideal. You know like how the way food looks in comercials is totally not how it looks in real life.

Couple of fun facts for those who didn't click the link:
Whipped Cream is usually shaving cream, holds better under the lights
Ice cream is usually (colored) mashed potato for the same reason
Yogurt/milk in cereal shots is often wood glue
Syrup on pancakes is usually motor oil while the pancakes are scotch guarded to keep it on top
Bubbles on drinks are created by adding soap and blowing through a straw

First, I get the whole scaleable part, but that kinda ignores my suggestion of what min spec gets you resolution detail and fps wise. Second, your food analogy is sort of a poor one as there are times when real food cant be used for studio shots as the lights cook the stuff they are so hot and concentrated, like milk pouring in most cereal comercials is actually crisco, just liquid enough to not loose its color, but either way, when somthing like that is used in advertising to be misleading it is wrong no matter how you look at it. That is the point to this, DON'T roll over and say 'it is what it is', like this post, share this post, start threads when you exceed the min by a bit and can't run it for crap. but don't just say, ho hum whatever man. never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups, so come, join the herd!
