Gamekit Affiliation Issues
I was told I should post this here so here goes. Your affiliate website Gamekit.com has what I feel is an unfair policy practice by banning users who use open access public wifi and will permanently ban anyone who uses a vpn. They will also accuse them of having mutiple accounts and ask them to terminate the accounts. Even when the accounts belong to total strangers. This happened to me and I have screen shots of the conversation. They have a mobile app but I ask what's the point of it, if you can't use public wifi? Those living in a dorm on a college campus would be banned because it's, "public acces wifi." Also instead of filling an order made for a steam product key prior to the suspension of the account, they will "refund" the purchase and not honor the purchase. The problem with this is there is nothing to truly refund. No money has been exchanged. It's done by points earned. I first tried to deal with their support staff about it and basically got treated like a lying criminal.

So I am suggesting one of two things. Either a termination of Steam's affiliation with them for, as stated, unfair policy practices or a negotiation on changing their no public access wifi policy. Not to mention suggest retraining of their staff for sensitivity towards consumers.

I feel that gamekit's behavior could wrongfully reflect badly on Steam and its other affiliates if this continues. Also their refusal to honor their purchases could also reflect badly on Steam.

You know everyone can make a website and pretend to be affliated with Valve by putting a link or an image on the site.

What is gamekit and what the heck do they have to do with Steam?!...

Who told you to post about a completely non-steam issue here?

If you asked support and they told you go post here, it's because obviously this isn't a steam issue.

And, what Elvis said.

He got scammed......
Cathulhu 2019 年 8 月 8 日 下午 11:44
That website is in no way affiliated, trusted or supported by Valve or Steam. Not even Gamekit claims that based on their website.
It also looks shady as hell.

Gamekit is not Affiliated. Just because you can use use the Steam openID to log into the site, doesn't make it affiliated. Its OPENID, means any site can use it without Valve having to say yes you can use it. As mentioned, no where on the gamekit page does it even claim that they are affiliated with steam.

If you have a problem with Gamekit, go yell at them, not at Valve, they have no connection to them.

People advertise Gamekit in their usernames (in violation of Steam's rules on spamming) because the site gives them rewards in exchange for the spamming.

Perhaps what Valve should do is when they find out the Steam Web API is being used to authenticate spam accounts they should disable said site's access to the API.

As far as I know, they already do that with sites that have been added to the filters.

But that would not stop the sites from still looking at peoples profiles to see if they have the crap in peoples names, people would only need to provide a link to their profile for that.

What Valve needs to do is make the filtering work on peoples names. But instead of adding hearts it just removes that part of the name, or locks the account from posting in any discussion area till its removed.

But Valve would also have to start adding parts of the banned urls too. Right now they only filter bannedurl.com and not bannedurl They need to block both while making sure name get filters applied to them too.

As was said before, no website is affiliated to Steam whatsoever. Whoever claims that is scamming you.

I'm also confused at what you mean by "change the no public wifi access policy". Steam has no such policy, and can't control other websites' policies.

Does Steam have any means of blocking OpenID access too?

Regarding the mention of Wi-Fi, maybe some users have trouble connecting to Steam via public Wi-Fi because there may be filters blocking either Steam specifically or the non-HTTP protocols required to maintain a connection to the service.

@Dayrox: Gamekit is a site that has giveaways for steam keys and other game items for points. You can also use these points to purchase steam keys outright. I've received 2 legit game keys through them. It just costs more points to do it that way. You earn these points by playing featured games like War Thunder, doing surveys, and / or watching videos. and there is no malware or phishing. The site is clean in that regard. I never got any malware. Also small correction for you. My gender pronouns are She/Her/Hers. Marajaqwin is a female name.

@Zekiran: Steam support told me to post this issue here.

Gwarsbane: I'm not yelling. Yelling is done in all caps. I am calmly trying to find out what can be done about their activities. Besides, yelling doesn't solve anything except send me into a PTSD episode.

After a closer look at the website, you are correct. They aren't affiliated with steam. My mistake and I apologize and redact that comment. They do claim to be partnered with Bigpoint and Smilegate. They also claim to provide Steam and Playsafe cards. It is also apparent they are either purchasing or possibly stealing steam keys. They then resell them to consumers for points instead of cash. I do not know if any cash has ever been exchanged for them. I for one never gave them any. Is steam getting paid for these product keys? Doesn't it go against steam policy to buy and then resell a product key for any type of exchangeable currency? I know its illegal to do so with hard copy games so that's why I asked. I know that they are using a point of sale process due to the fact that it takes them a day to "process your order" and "deliver the product" after the "purchase." It never took a day for digital copies keys to be given when I purchased them from Steam. But it does with them. They also claim that the Steam key they give you is random. Could it be that they might be hacking Steam for the keys? I ask cause they say, "We won't give refunds for repeated keys." The mere statement of repeated keys suggests a suspicion of hacking of Steam's store for licensed product keys. But I'll leave that up to an investigation team to find out if they so wish. What my questions boil down to is how are they getting these keys? Is it legal for them to do business the way they are? Wouldn't they need some kind of agreement from Valve to get "random" product keys. The other reason I am posting this to Valve is because I don't know who else I should ask. Valve's Licensed product keys are their main featured products. This unfair and possible illegal practice of theirs could also look bad on Steam. So who should I report their activities to? Who else can hold them accountable for unfair and / or possibly illegal activities?

they are legit enough to get steam keys from i managed to earn 2 before they suspended me

Just because they have game keys doesn't mean they obtain them through the proper channels.
