Only allowing people from recent games to send you a friend request
Everyday I have spammers consistently sending me friend request. The only solution is to put my profile to private, but that's no fun because I can't make friends in CSGO if they can't send me a friend request. There should be a option in privacy settings that controls who can send you friend request! -Thanks for coming to my TED Talk

Just make your inventory private.
What database would Steam use to control who asks for an friend invite to you?
It would have be user related information controlled only by that user.
WRITE IN BIG LETTERS IN YOUR PROFILE> FRIEND REQUESTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IF I DON'T KNOW YOU. SO DON'T ASK.
Usually works for most profiles I have looked in .

Yea those aren't bad solutions but I like keeping my inventory on public so anyone can look through my stuff and writing in big letters usually won't stop bots from adding me. It was just a idea I had because its really the only issue I have with steam.

I think that's a reasonable request. Right now, the only way around this is with private profiles and checking your recently played with section on Steam and hoping that a friend invite link will work. But being able to block out random requests from people that you've never played with is something that should be able to be done. The only issues would come from third-party launchers like Hi-Rez, Uplay, and such but with CS:GO, I feel like it wouldn't be a difficult feature to implement since it's a Valve game.

The problem is with every other game. The best solution, aside from making your profile or even just your inventory private, is to not be in large, spam-filled groups.

You can still send and receive friend invites when your profile is Friends Only. The only difference is that random people cant see your games, badges and stuff. When you think about it, do you really want them to? Putting all that stuff on view you are just inviting a hacker.
