Support transparent PNG profile icons

By default, steam defaults to making transparent spots in profile pictures black. It'd look better if they were transparent imo, you'd see through to the Steam background.

I had to modify mine to be white to fit the picture on my own because Steam just makes the space blank by default :/

It works just like the artwork showcase. Transparent will just show the top header.

Nope, it just does black, it also makes some nice jagged edges around the object in the photo

I'm saying what it would do it if was to go transparent. It would show the header color and not the background.

You can just use photoshop to modify your profile picture to get the Steam background or header.

Getting it right would be annoying especially with the light effect it has and the grids pattern on it.

Not necessarily true. You can remove all the text on your header, take a screenshot of your profile and drag a selection over the original profile picture box and move it to the side to get the same pattern.

I used https://steam.design/ to crop background.
Then I used Photoshop to put my profile picture over the profile picture that steam.design cropped for me.

That's how I added part of the gun on the bottom of my profile picture.

You can do the same with any background and any profile picture.

You don't have other options.
Hotsauce already said why transparent PNGs wouldn't work.

Open your profile page in browser and open Inspect Element.
Delete your profile picture with Inspect Element and you'll see what's behind it.
Even if profile picture was transparent, you would see that instead of background picture.
