[Audio][Overlay] Change Audio Device in game
I'd like to be able to choose my audio output device from steam overlay, using my controller.

How I imagine it to work:

  1. User presses the home button on their controller
  2. User selects "Audio output"
  3. User chooses their preferred output, and the game would switch over to the new device

Use cases:

  • Personally sometimes I don't want to make too much noise. Quickly switch to DualShock 4 headphone jack without my mouse and keyboard
  • USB headphones, a lot of people have these
  • Optical out for surround sound, maybe when you've got friends over

It could be easy to implement
Steam already switches audio when you start in home streaming. It even does this mid-game. Maybe the code that handles this could be used or tweaked?

Consideration when using IHS
Maybe give the user some visual indication when they're using in home streaming that they'll be outputting audio to the host or client.

Windows 10 offers a feature that let's you select which output device to use for an application.

Such stuff is done on the OS level and is nothing Steam has any control over. No matter how much you necro a thread.
