Third party software: Vjoy and X360ce
Hello there,

I would like to make a suggestion on how Steam aproches to some third party software like virtual game pads (or more especific to x360ce and Vjoy). I'm aware that Steam said that you should be safe to use porgrams like Discord and so on, but I never seen them talk about x360 or Vjoy.

Why I'm saying this? Well, it's very simple: Recently I bought the game Divinity Original Sin Enhanced Edition, but it doesn't have full controller support. A Dev or a Game Moderator on their forums suggested and pointed out users to use Vjoy (to emulate a gamepad via the keyboard) and also x360ce.

* Here's the original post: http://steamcommunity.com/app/373420/discussions/0/343786714895033159/

I asked him if any of this programs could trigger a vac, so far I didn't get a response from him. I looked aroud on other forums and I belive it's safe to use, but I would LOVE to have a reply for Steam directly on this one.

Moving forward now. I contacted steam and I did get this replay:
"...Hey there!
We do not provide analysis of third party software for VAC compliance. Any third party software or other modifications you use in conjunction with Steam should be done at your own discretion.
Only cheats (modifications designed to give one player an advantage over other players) will trigger a VAC ban.

If you have questions about a specific third party application, please contact the developer of the application for assistance. Additional information can be found on our Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) article.
For specific software and program types that will cause issues with VAC, please see our Disconnected by VAC article..."

In wich I replayed that it's all good but since it's not the first time that I see Game moderators, Devs and players guides telling people to use this two softwares like Vjoy and X360ce, I strongly think an official statement should be made by Steam.
* And we are not talking about a few times here and there, this happens a lot of times in the forums.

Lastly, why I'm here? Well the last replay from another support representative suggested me to come here and share my opinion on the subject.

Are this software safe to use?
I belive Steam should shade some light in the issue.
What do you think?

That's about it, thank you for reading.

No issue with using x360ce

But I don't see why not just use the built-in controller configurator now that there's one.
[Steam > Settings > Controller]

Hey, thanks for the replay.

I'll didn't know about that setting, I will take a look.
The things is that in order to play local coop in that game you need 2 game pads connected and both had to bee 360s and so on.
The moderator suggested using that combo if you only had 1 generic gamepad and no extra, in order to play be able to play with a friend locally.
