Confusion between multi-player and mmo cleared up.
It seems the reference multi-player has gotten overused, and is being confused with mmorpg, or mmo. If the references were used correctly, there would most likely be a lot less issues with bans of any type.
For instance, with Steams rules of cheating or edditing a multi-player game, having games that are in the workshop basically contradicts the rules right? This is why:

---Games that are run by Steam, or any company where the server is on THEIR SIDE, should not just be called multi-player, it should be titled MMO for Massive Multi-player Online, or MMORPG Massive Multi-Player Online Role Playing game. This type of game, the company controls the server, how the game runs, fees per month if any, or to charge for in game items. This type of game should NEVER EVER be eddited, cheated in with 3rd party programs of any type. Trying to do so not only makes it unfair to others, its basically stealing. breaking rules by doing so, gets you banned, and in most cases you lose access to all games of it's type, plus no trading and more. Should this type of game be in the workshop, then if your making a mod, make sure to follow all the rules.

---Games that the servers are run by players. Games like CREA, Starbound, Terraria where you run the server on your side, where you make the rules on who joins and who doesn't, this is a regular type of multi-player game. The only type of cheating allowed, is what the admin (The server owner) allows and states is ok. These types of games have workshops galore, to do just about anything and everything, plus there are programs called trainers, that go great with some of them and make the administraters life more easy. If you own the server, you dictate the rules, you decide what you want your world to be like. The only exception to this is if Steam has their own versions of the server. Those, you don't mess with. If your unsure of if a persons game server allows mods or cheats of any kind and you cant find the rules, then just ask. Dont guess. Most player servers who allow cheats of any kinds come in forms of mods anyway, and until you subscribe to them from the workshop, the server wont let on on anyway.

If I missed anything, please let me know. I'll edit this.
(Merry Christmas, and happy hollidays everyone)

The difference between multiplayer and MMO is on the first letter of the acronym.
Massive Multiplayer Online

It has nothing to do with who controls the server. It's about how many people can fit on the game. There's little confusion there.

You seem to be more wary about which multiplayer games you can mod. Those who have workshop are fine to be modded.
