Pretty much every Social Media platform has one, Everyone wants one, People who need it don't have one. The Verified Badge.

Where??

It would be displayed in front of every verified profile. Bold, Strong, & Stand out. Not like those Valve tags that are displayed only when someone comments or is Trade Banned.

Why do we need it in Steam?

This could not only benefit Steam but Traders, High Tier Traders like to trade a lot and a lot of scammers pretending to be them. They pretend to have a $10,000 inventory but the thing is, a lot of us fall for it. YouTubers have clones from everywhere, Anomaly, for example, has hundreds of spam comments under his profile from people pretending to be him to visit scam sites, fake giveaways, and much worse virus sites. People in the Game Dev community know, there are imposters saying "Giving Free Game keys" and fake SteamRep & Valve Admins everywhere.




This would not only solve a major part of scams & a have a big impact on scammers.

there are bad people even in verified profiles, this just gives them the means to scam someone out of $30,000 and then run.

Just think of the "Hey look! I'm Steam verified. Come and send your items to me to verify them for future trades."

Does YouTube give it some random person who had sub-botted 100k Subscribers, obv not I am saying to those who are trusted by everyone, not someone random?

Verification makes sense, particularly for public figures, for sites like Facebook where people use their real name and post personal information. What is there to verify when you're Steam name and profile contain absolutely no personal info?

Also, Valve people already have a Valve badge. Steam moderators also have a badge. In most cases, the badge is displayed by hovering over their name (like mine).

YT does not have a market for game items. And a few of well know YT personalities do have their own scam sites.

There's a lot of differences between Steam and Youtube. So I don't really think it's a valid comparison.

I get verified tag on youtube, and that's just because my identity is confirmed to be who I say I am, anyone can get it. and like said before, we usually share no pii on steam, so what purpose does verification serve other than as an extra tool for scammers?

There's always been a way of solving the scams. It's following the trading guidelines.

The people who get scammed for not following the guidelines are unlikely to make better with this feature.

Use common sense and trading guides to avoid scams. I know this sound like a good idea, but it's not.

Scamming on steam will be so much easy if valve would do this.

Keep your trading within the system Valve has provided, and you do not need to know anything about the person you are trading with.

If Valve made something like this, it would be the same as saying, we approve and support trading outside the system, that is not going to happen.

Scammers often use stolen accounts, guess what will happen if there is verified accounts, they will get taken over and used for scamming.

Horrible idea, and I really hope it will never happen.

Useless featured. Use the trading feature as intended and verification is irrelevant. Use it improperly and verification will just lead the unsuspecting into trouble.

How about instead allow steam to integrate with the accounts of those services.
