The Problem

Trying to pick out a specific item on the steam community market I noticed that there isn't any way to search for specific qualities outside of individual items. An example might be team shine on any team fortress item. If i wanted to find the cheapest team shine item i'd have to search for kill streak items find the lowest specialized kill streak item then search in the listing for team shine. then repeat until the minimum price for the next item is more than the cheapest team shine that i'd found. This is especially apparent in items that a secondary quality might be more important to a person than the primary. Unusuals are a perfect example. there is no way to find the cheapest specific effect in any reasonable time. You'd have to do the same thing with the team shine except some effects like Neutron Star are so stupidly rare that this process could take hours.

The Solution

My idea for a better search function is to have a sort of line of filters. for example say that if your looking for an unusual you'd select tf2 then cosmetic then unusual then if you wanted anything specific like paint or effect you'd have that option. the path would be tf2>cosmetic>optional paint or others filter>unusual or strange>and effect if unusual. this could work for most of the steam market. The pitfall to this is the fact that every single type or condition would have to be listed. The upside to this is a quicker search for specific qualities.
