Multiple HomePages for In-Game Browser?
While in game I mostly access the browser for the community market or google if i am stuck and need help, and it kinda pisses me off that we can set normal browsers to open multiple pages on startup but not in the steam browser, it can only have one homepage!

It is painful to keep typing the url of the a page when the other is set as home page. I currently have steam as my home page but would love to have google too. what do you think guys? do you have the same problem too but in a diffrent way maybe?

Seeing as how you should not be using the steam browser to visit websites out side of steams official ones there is no need for this. The steam browser is not secure against anything outside of valves sites.

Use another browser to do that.

Its funny that the default homepage is google when all it does is take you to random, probably insecure sites

Interesting, and dumb really. Because as I said unlike a regular browser that you can secure with adblock and no script, you can't do that with the steam one. seems like a HUGE security risk to allow stuff like that.

Yes thats true, but I guess Valve trusts Google to give a level of security to all the Googlers, and hence decided to keep google as default.and interestingly we can't search from the address bar!
so that might be because they might have thought to keep the browser as light as possible to minimalise the risk and vulnerabilities by not incorprating an search engine but simply just making one as the homepage

Mainly to keep the client light but the added benefit of being more secure. 2 birds, 1 stone.

yes, it would have been nice to have a fully functional browser at the cost of a slightly more size and system footprint, more over to have a secure browser than a functional one

The added weight that it would need would irritate a lot of users. The client doesn't need to have that much added to it. That would essentially be 2 apps bundled together. A heavy load for a lot of users that don't even touch the overlay browser.

u know what, that might be right ! that concludes it all, but back to square 1, they could have made it possible to open 2 diffrent tabs without making the browser fully funtional like we discussed

Well there is suppose to be a UI updating coming "summer of 2017" according to a valve employee in a video. They have officially 12 more days to actually hit that target.... will they? Doubt it, its Valve we're talking about here.

What will be in the UI update? No idea, they have not said. Maybe there will be a browser update like you want.

That being said, can you set a new homepage? If you can, make a html file with links to lots of stuff that you require, its what I have, a big page with 200+ links for all the common stuff I click on. Personally I try never to use the steam browser, and I never use it for going to sites outside of steam as its too insecure.

And a little extra "weight" to the client for 1000 times better security should be welcomed by everyone. At the very least those 2 addons should be included by default. Noscript and adblock has saved me a number of times from sites that installed stuff on other peoples machines without their knowing and infected them.
