Native Steam Link support for the Wii U GameCube adapter

Hello,
I have already filed a help request containing the following text, but I thought, I'd share this with the community. Maybe there's some constructive input:

Steam started native support for more and more controllers on the Steam Link (including the DualShock 4 and others) which is a great thing.
However, what's still missing in my opinion is native support for Wii U GameCube adapters (especially the official one, this one: https://www.amazon.com/Super-Smash-GameCube-Adapter-Wii-U/dp/B00L3LQ1FI).

There are some third party adapters which make PCs recognize GameCube controllers, but they are not as accurate as native support (cf. this article: https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2015/01/01/dolphin-progress-report-december-2014/). Also many people have GameCube controllers and Wii U GameCube adapters lying around - many people would probably benefit from native support.

Normally, me (and many other people) are using the adapter with the Dolphin GameCube/Wii emulator. I tried getting it to work on the Steam Link using VirtualHere and even contacted their support, since it isn't usable (cf. http://virtualhere.com/content/virtualhere-wii-u-gamecube-adapter), but the developer couldn't help me. Also, if this would have worked, it would have only enabled me to use the controller on the Dolphin emulator, not at other Steam Games or in Steam Big Picture Mode.

So, I'd like to suggest thinking about native Steam Link support for Wii U adapters, which probably is not too much work to do for experienced driver developers. The Open Source emulator Dolphin has these drivers implemented, so their code probably could be borrowed.
