I have started a google doc just to do this.
Should not need to be too clever, but this would probably help out streamers and their followers.
Sorting games in shelves and collections by Metacritic or Steam review score isn't particularly helpful because it's YOUR library, not theirs. Their 5/10 game might be a 10/10 for you.
I also suggest extending the existing dynamic collections functionality to auto group titles by personal star rating.
Third, I would add library filters for the star ratings.
Photography (library) software such as Adobe Lightroom let you assign a star rating to each image so you can quickly sift and sort, because pro photographers take hundreds of images per shooting session. Afterwards they have to cull the images so they only spend time post processing the preferred ones. In Lightroom and other photo apps, a star rating is assigned simply by pressing 1-5 on the keyboard while an image is the active selection. You select images by using the arrow keys. In Steam we can't use arrow keys to select games so instead you could press 1-5 while the mouse is hovering over a title, making it a super quick process.
Currently if you press a number key and have a library collection of which the name starts with that number, that collection is automatically selected. This functionality would have to be sacrificed, at least for numbers not letters. Unless you use a right click context menu method to assign personal star ratings to games. That works too but it's slower than the mouseover method.
I'm bumping this existing thread instead of making my own. Please do the same.
They need to revamp Collections and Library Sorting in general, adding plenty of manual sorting options, the way it is right now is way too broad to appease to any gamer with even slight OCD. Especially gamers who have expanded their collections over 5+ years having totals of hundreds and literally thousands of games.
